Real Madrid have reportedly made Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold a priority transfer target. The Spanish club are looking to bring in a new right-back with Tottenham's Pedro Porro, Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong and Juanlu of Sevilla on their radar, according to The Athletic. The report adds that sources with close knowledge of Madrid's transfer plans claim Alexander-Arnold is the No 1 option, but only if he allows his contract to expire.

With several players failing to meet expectations, the match exposed weaknesses all over the pitch. Who were the main culprits in United's collapse, and how did Spurs capitalise so effectively? Tottenham's home game against Qarabag in the UEFA Europa League has been delayed due to travel chaos in north London. The match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was initially scheduled to kick off at 8pm. However, that time was pushed back as the away team had not even arrived by 7.20pm, while tens of thousands of fans were also running late.

Tottenham fans were left fuming after the Arsenal defender put in a crunching challenge on Porro inside the first-half. Timber caught his opponent on the ankle with his studs, after he went over the ball in a tackle reminiscent to that to the one that saw Curtis Jones sent off, after the Liverpool man caught Tottenham's Yves Bissouma last season. On this occasion, Gillett deemed the incident was only worthy of a yellow card - the same opinion of VAR official Stuart Attwell.

Jamie Redknapp and Paul Merson have claimed that Jurrien Timber was 'incredibly lucky' to not get sent off during the north London derby.  During a goalless first half, referee Jarred Gillett was not shy to book players, showing seven yellows in total in the opening 45 minutes.  There was a controversial moment when Timber caught Pedro Porro's ankle after 36 minutes and got in the referee's book instantly.

While the eyes of the continent turn to Euro 2024, not all of the best players will be in Germany in June and July. Some were unlucky enough to fall short in the qualification process for the European Championships, or picked up injuries through the season that mean that this summer will be too soon for them to be included in their national team's squad. Others are perfectly fit, but have been snubbed by their bosses - a particular blow for certain players, with the Euros a pinnacle in the careers of many footballers. 

MATT BARLOW AT BRAMALL LANE: Ange Postecoglou returns to his native Australia with a Tottenham victory to soothe a difficult end to his first season in charge. Dejan Kulusevski scored twice and Pedro Porro once against already relegated Sheffield United, as Spurs sealed fifth and qualification for the Europa League with 66 points while singing 'Shame About the Arsenal'. It is an improvement of six points on last season when they had a Champions League campaign to contend with and comes after losing Harry Kane so probably a par score, with elements of promise and plenty of scope for improvement.

AADAM PATEL AT THE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM: Burnley's relegation from the Premier League has been confirmed with a 2-1 loss at Tottenham - while Spurs remain in the hunt for the top four. While Spurs have kept their top four hopes alive, the Clarets are down for the second time in three years after an abysmal, toothless campaign. MATT BARLOW AT THE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM: Micky van de Ven stopped the Tottenham rot and condemned Burnley to relegation from the Premier League. Vincent Kompany's team took the lead through Jacob Bruun Larsen but Pedro Porro soon equalised and Van de Ven struck late on. It was relief for Ange Postecoglou, whose team had lost their previous four but agony for the visitors who travelled to London in the knowledge they had to win to extend their hopes of avoiding the drop.

Burnley join Sheffield United in becoming a 'one and done' Premier League side following their relegation from the top flight. Going into Saturday's match at Tottenham, the Clarets were in the most precarious position with relegation-threatened rivals Luton Town and Nottingham Forest. Burnley's 4-1 home defeat by Newcastle last Saturday had left them five points from safety with a goal difference that is 17 worse than Forest's.

When they first arose, it is unlikely that he would have brought two of his back four into the Nottingham Forest box on Sunday night. However, his forwards failed, but his defenders triumphed. Spurs defeated the top four with two lethal piledrivers, the first from center back Micky van de Ven, the second from right back Pedro Porro. Postecoglou said it is not his job to be concerned about the financial burden of qualifying for the Champions League in a week where Tottenham had reported an £87 million annual loss. He chuckled that he didn't care less about the fourth round of the race. His followers are certainly supportive, and his employers follow him. Spurs had a crucial advantage after Aston Villa and Manchester United dropped points for the second time in seven days.
