News about Paul Stewart

Premier League mega-squads have broken the League Cup. Here's how to fix it, writes MATT BARLOW

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 30, 2024
MATT BARLOW: If Newcastle beat Wimbledon in the tie rearranged when parts of the pitch at Plough Lane vanished in the rain, there will be 13 Premier League teams in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup. That figure is as high as it has ever been and if you zoom in on the details, five of the seven top-flight teams no longer involved lost in all-Premier League ties. The other two lost on penalties. So strong are the elite that Arsenal could breeze past Bolton with a 16-year-old in goal and Chelsea's £415million reserve team could smash five past Barrow in the third round on a night when their Under-21s were across London beating Bromley in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Former England and Liverpool star Paul Stewart opens up on years of abuse as a child in football - and reveals the devastating impact it has had on his adult life as he gets behind FA Play Safe campaign

Paul Stewart bares his soul no more than three times a week. The limit is self-imposed for the good of his own mental health because the experience never fails to fire emotions, the content is brutal and the torment for him real and present. To see the former England international pour his trauma all into one-hour safeguarding session for the benefit of academy scholars of Wrexham, aged 16 to 18, and their staff on a wet weekday afternoon in North Wales is to understand only a fraction of what he must be putting himself through.

Revealed: The eight most unwelcoming places to buy a second home in the UK - plus the eight villages where you can buy a stunning property AND be embraced by the locals

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 6, 2024
Second homes have never been so popular. Before lockdown, just 3 per cent of Britons had a retreat in the countryside or the coast - somewhere to recharge the batteries. But locals blame the incomers for escalating property prices. The residents of harbour towns get squeezed out to live on the outskirts. And young people who work all year round are unable to get on the housing ladder. We've spoken with locals, estate agents, second homeowners and councillors to reveal the UK's most welcoming and unwelcoming towns and villages.

After unexpected closing amid a 'family feud,' a month later, the 'oldest' bagel store in the United Kingdom is expected to reopen a month after being drafted, and a'management change' is planned for the Brick Lane institution

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 8, 2024
Customers were left devastated after arriving at the famed Beigel Shop (pictured) to find chains and a massive padlock on the front door. The sudden closing of the store where bagels were reportedly sold continuously since 1855 when it was established by Jewish immigrants from Russia is believed to be due to a family dispute. The business, which was affectionately known as the 'yellow one' and renowned for never closing its doors due to its round-the-clock opening hours, has remained closed since a High Court summons (inset) was announced on the glass front door and dated February 13.

Fire in Loch Lomond: A TV man killed with his partner's hands had cuts and blood on his hands, according to an inquiry

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 19, 2022
Richard Dyson, 38, who appeared on Channel 4's Four in Bed, and Simon Midgley, 32, (the couple, left) died as a result of the fire (left) at the five-star Cameron House hotel while on a romantic break. Phillip Douglas, a firefighter, told the Fatal Accident Inquiry that he and his coworkers were told not to leave the hotel, which is located on the banks of Loch Lomond, near Balloch, due to fears of demise. When the 35-year-old and his crew returned to school, he could not see much in the corridors and was using his feet and hands to check the area. He kicked what looked to be waste at one point, but it was actually Mr Dyson's leg that was lying on the ground covered in blood. A court had previously heard that the fire broke out after a night porter (pictured, top right) brought ash and embers from a fire into the cupboard, and the couple died of smoke inhalation.
