'World's oldest time capsule' - dating back to 1726 - is found in Polish church spire, containing 300-year-old coins, Latin documents and a lead bullet

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 25, 2023
The box (top left) is believed to date back to 1726 and was discovered during renovations at the Church of St. Stanislaus in the small town of Wschowa, western Poland. The capsule's age has yet to be announced, but if it really is from 1726, it would make the find older than the current record holder from Boston, Massachusetts. The town's museum called it a "unique find" and posted on social media: "In Wschowa, the world's oldest time capsule was discovered.' The oldest capsule is made of a box made of copper sheet with the date 1726 stamped on its lid. The time capsule, which contained four packets from 1726, 1786, 1884, and 1914, was extracted from the sphere at the top of the cathedral's tower (bottom center).' Museum conservators discovered Latin documents (bottom right), coins (top right), and old German newspapers (bottom left) inside the new capsule.

Since a 129-year-old horn was silenced for a local autistic boy, a New Hampshire town has been divided

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 8, 2023
A deafening fire horn (center) has blasted from the roof of Milford's historic town hall at 11:45 a.m., a warning for nearby granite quarry workers in the 'Granite State' of New Hampshire to break for lunch and at other times indicate an emergency or a school snow day. However, the warning, which some described as a fog horn that could be heard for miles, was silenced in August as an unofficial courtesy to Jennifer Fowler's 12-year-old autistic son Lukas (pictured together right) who thought the world was ending when he heard it. The step, however, has sparked a tumultuous online debate over the fate of the Milford horn, which divided the town and pitted people against each other. On Saturday, the controversy, pitting the interests of Lukas against ardent town preservationists, reached its first public hearing (left), when 1,000 signatories demanded that the town'reinstate and then maintain the fire horn in its regular and historic daily use in perpetuity.'
