Paul Akers Career

Career

Right out of high school, Akers and his mentor Bob Taylor at Taylor Guitars and Musical Instruments in California started building guitars with his mentor Bob Taylor. He earned his degree in education from Biola University and began his career in inner-city ministry in the Los Angeles area with his wife Leanne. He started as a tutor and then as a carpenter.

Akers invented the FastCap in 1997 in his garage. It was a way to cover and conceal screw holes with a tiny adhesive cap that blends in with the wood around it. That vision developed into a manufacturing company. Akers began using the principles of Lean manufacturing and the Toyota Production System (TPS), which he attributes to his success in boosting FastCap forwards. He was overwhelmed with a slew of projects, employees, and major financial decisions he faced on a daily basis.

Akers is also a writer, lean instructor, YouTuber, and consultant who gives presentations to companies and organizations.
