Patricia Marand (January 25, 1934 – November 27, 2008) was an American actress and singer, best known for roles in musical theatre.

She was nominated for a 1966 Tony Award for her part as Lois Lane in the musical It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman.

She also appeared in the 1952 musical Wish You Were Here.

She was a regular on The Merv Griffin Show.

Life and career

Marande Marando, a New York native, grew up in New York City, the niece of Patrick and Justine Marandino. Patricia Marandino was her birth name, and she had a brother Robert.

She made her Broadway debut in South Pacific as a replacement for Lt. Genevieve Marshall. Wish You Were Here, a 1952 film starring Teddy Stern, was opposite Jack Cassidy. She appeared in The Pajama Game in 1955 as a replacement for Brenda. Lois Lane was nominated for the Tony Award in 1966 as Lois Lane in the Hal Prince-directed Broadway production It's a Bird...It's a Superman, a composition by Charles Strouse. "A statuesque, red haired beauty with an unforgettable rich, smooth, and melodic soprano voice, Marand's timeless Broadway productions epitomized legendary Broadway theatre with enduring grace and style," the press described her.

Anna in The King and I was a regular in summer theatre, appearing opposite Yul Brynner in 1981. She appeared in various stage appearances as Aldonza opposite Alfred Drake and had lead roles in Kiss Me, Kate, Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma, and other roles. Among other things, there were Kismet and Kismet. She appeared on The Merv Griffin Show and The Johnny Carson Show as a guest several times. On March 5, 1967, she was the featured star of "Stars of Defense" radio show. She has performed in concerts with the Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New Haven, and Minneapolis Symphonies, as well as in long-running engagements at supper clubs in New York's Pierre and St. Regis Hotels. Helen Barone appeared in The Sopranos (2000) as a guest star.

In 1984, Marand married Irving Salem and died of brain cancer at the age of 74 in New York City. She is buried at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Harrison, New York.
