KATHRYN BATTE: The forward saw red in the 86th minute on Saturday after lashing out at Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr. Kudus was originally shown a yellow card by referee Andrew Madley, but this was upgraded to a straight red on VAR review. The forward aimed two kicks at Van de Ven while the defender was on the floor, then shoved the Spurs man in the face after he had got up to confront him. Despite his team-mates' attempts to retrain him, Kudus then also pushed Sarr in the face.

Not simply three precious points in a London derby, but a victory to answer questions about spirit and character, having fought back from behind in a brisk transformation sparked by a bold substitution. Postecoglou sent on Pape Matar Sarr for James Maddison when the scores were level at 1-1 at half time and restored a better balance in Tottenham's midfield.

KATHRYN BATTE AT THE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR STADIUM: Tottenham Hotspur demolished London rivals West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday in an action-packed derby. The Hammers opened the scoring against the run of play in the 18th minute when Mohammed Kudus netted his second goal of the season. But Spurs hit back emphatically to win 4-1 courtesy of strikes from Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma, Son Heung-min and an Alphonse Areola own goal. Kudus was sent off late in the game for violent conduct after kicking Micky van de Ven and then putting his hands in the face of Pape Matar Sarr.

Ally McCoist insisted Mohammed Kudus did not deserve to see red during West ham's defeat to Tottenham in the London derby, despite a moment of madness from the midfielder. Kudus had fired the visitors into an early lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, before Dejan Kulusevski levelled for Spurs before the interval. Ange Postecoglou replaced James Maddison with Pape Matar Sarr at half-time and the hosts returned revitalised following the restart, with a quick flurry of goals.

Ange Postecoglou's side headed to Budapest to take on the Hungarian champions in the second round of matches in the league phase of the competition having beaten Qarabag 3-0 at home a week ago. However, things came crashing down in one of the most bizarre and chaotic Premier League games of all-time when they lost 4-1 to Chelsea at the start of November having been reduced to nine men.

No team in English professional football have played fewer games than Tottenham this season and with only a dozen Premier League outings in nearly four months, the going has been particularly tedious since the turn of the year. Now it all ends with a rush of six games in three weeks, starting with tomorrow's derby against Arsenal, and something of a reckoning to determine how Ange Postecoglou's first year goes down in history. No trophies. Nothing new there. More flair, big tick from the faithful. But can they qualify for the Champions League? Will they fizzle into the Europa League? Or worse? And just how much satisfaction can they derive if they manage to sabotage Arsenal's title bid?

The Africa Cup of Nations is set to begin on January 13, and there are some outstanding footballers to watch out for during the tournament. Senegal is competing for the 34th edition of the tournament, with Senegal aiming to protect their crown with a slew of new talents set to showcase their talents at the tournament. Several key Premier League stars will be present, including Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Mohammed Kudus of West Ham, and Tottenham's Pape Matar Sarr.

AFCON is finally here, following months of rumors over which players will be ruled out of club action for up to four weeks. Following the most recent round of play, the continental tournament will take place from January 13 to February 11, with players having to join their national teams. Tottenham Hotspur's 12th goal of the season would see the club finish the year on a high by punishing Bournemouth for their inefficiency in front of goal. After scoring by Pape Matar Sarr in the ninth minute, the visitors had been the better team for major portions of the game, but they had wasted so many chances and missed so many opportunities to progress. Then Son deciphered Giovani Lo Celso's delectable pass and smashed it high into Neto. When Richarlison made it 3-0, the goal gave his team a degree of security, but it is not a Spurs game under Ange Postecoglou without a breathless closing sequence.

Pape Matar Sarr could not hide his emotion when he was forced to leave early during Tottenham's match against Bournemouth. After only nine minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 21-year-old got Ange Postecoglou's team off to a good start, drilling a low shot beyond Cherries goalkeeper Neto to start the scoring after just nine minutes. Sarr's afternoon would turn for the worse shortly after, but after requiring medical attention around the half-hour mark, it will not continue.

MATT BARLOW: Confirmation that Cristian Romero will need up to five weeks to recover from a hamstring injury has caused a tremor during Tottenham's mid-winter break. Spurs have been depleted for weeks, and the international tournaments will be hosted by Son Heung-min, Pape Matar Sarr, and Yves Bissouma, who will be coached Ange Postecoglou next month. Romero, with his mobility, aggression, and defense expertise, is one of those players for whom they don't have a like-for-like replacement.

Cristian Romero will be out for up to five weeks with a hamstring strain, according to Ange Postecoglou. During Saturday's 2-1 victory over Everton after complaining of muscle pain and being referred for a scan after the game, Romero was knocked out at halftime.
