On May 23, 1999 one of the most tragic incidents in the history of professional wrestling occurred during a WWE pay-per-view in Kansas City, Missouri. That night, Owen Hart, a member of the famed Hart family dynasty, was scheduled to perform as the Blue Blazer in an intercontinental title match against the Godfather. Hart's entrance as the comedic superhero character that night was set to see him descend from the rafters before a harness malfunction saw him fall more than 78 feet to his death inside the ring.

A negligent truck driver who drove on the wrong side of a Nevada highway and killed three motorcyclists after he plowed into them learned his fate. Owen Hart, 22, his fiancé Athena Faye Taylor, 21, and his colleague Jeremy Gebo, 44, were killed in the tragedy on Route 163 in Laughlin, Nevada, on March 23. They were reportedly struck by Claude Rafiki, 29, who is accused of intoxicating into oncoming traffic. He has been charged with three counts of DUI resulting in death.

Owens, 39, has only earned one world title to his name. However, it could not be long before he receives some assistance in his quest for a second term or even a prodigy who would fight for glory himself. Owen, KO's son, who was inspired by his father's favorite wrestler, Owen Hart, is just 16 years old, but his stature is already outstanding at 6ft7in and 280 pounds.
