Norman Fell (born Norman Noah Feld, 1924-1998), an American actor of film and television, best known for his role as landlord Mr. Roper on the sitcom Three's Company and its spin-off, The Ropers.

Early life
Fell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 24, 1924, to Samuel and Edna Feld. His father was an Austrian Jewish immigrant, and his maternal grandparents were Russian Jews. He attended Central High School of Philadelphia. After serving as a tail gunner on a B-25 Mitchell in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, he studied drama at Temple University. At The Actors Studio and the Black Hills Players, he perfected his craft.

Fell married Dolores Pikoos in Philadelphia on May 21, 1950. Fell married and divorced two times after being divorced in 1954. Tracy and Mara were married with his second wife, and Adopting a son with his third wife, Karen Weingard, had two children.
Career

Fell played Stanley Roper, the main characters' landlord on the hit television show Three's Company from 1977 to 1980 (as well as Mr. McCleery in The Graduate). On The Ropers' "9110" a spin-off that aired from 1979 to 1980, he reprised his role as the co-lead with Audra Lindley playing his wife, Helen.
In 1979, Fell received a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Actor in a Support Role. In the miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role as Tom Jordache's boxing guide (Nick Nolte). Mr. Roper appeared on an episode of Ellen in 1997, his last television appearance was as Mr. Roper on a comedy comedies.
