'They were madly in love - she brought him back from his grief': How billionaire Tetra Pak heir and philanthropist Hans Rausing found hope with his second wife Julia who has died from cancer ten years after the tragedy of losing his first wife Eva to drug
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 19, 2024
The couple found love and happiness together in their fifties when, despite upbringings of privilege, they had both suffered great personal tragedy in their lives . Their wedding in 2014 was an opportunity for their two families to put behind them a seemingly endless list of catastrophes - including murder, suicide, drugs and a fatal accident - that had plagued them for decades. Friends of Mr Rausing credited Julia (together left) with bringing him happiness after his first wife Eva's (right) life was destroyed by her addiction to crack cocaine. Hans had concealed her body for two months because he could not 'confront the reality' of her death and 'could not cope' without her. His second wife helped him fight his own addiction and encouraged him to be extraordinarily generous with their charitable trust. But tragedy has hit again just ten years on as his beloved Julia died from cancer yesterday, aged 63. In the years since they wed, she had dedicated herself to a life of philanthropy along with her husband, whose friends have said that his main satisfaction in life has always been giving money to good causes. One friend told The Independent : 'They were palpably in love and affectionate towards each other and were a very touching couple who focused most of their time on how to give away money to those in need. They were also discreetly social while she also for many years had to battle cancer. Without a doubt, she was responsible for bringing Hans back from appalling grief and helping him find joy in life again.'

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason backs Roger Waters' decision to re-record their seminal album amid row

Nick Mason, a member of Pink Floyd, has backed his former bandmate Roger Waters' decision to re-record their seminal album 'The Dark Side of the Moon' without the other band members. Earlier this year, bassist-and-singer Roger, 79, revealed that he was creating his own new version of the legendary 1973 LP, which has been lauded as one of the best all-time records. He has done it without the help of Pink Floyd, who maintained that the album was his project all along and wrote it down, causing experts to believe that re-release would still mean he must reveal the royalties or face a High Court lawsuit, which is familiar territory for the warring group.
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour's long-running rivalry sparked a rift on the Dark Side of the tune

As the years go by, the two Pink Floyd powerhouses become more vocal about each other, much to the annoyance of millions of fans who still have aspired for a final show or new music by one of Britain's greatest ever bands. Waters has re-recorded the band's seminal album The Dark Side Of The Moon, without the rest of Pink Floyd, claiming that the 1973 album was his creation all along and he wrote it all. Nonetheless, Gilmour's surviving bandmate Nick Mason's continuing shaming of him, experts agree that re-releasing the royalties does not imply he will reveal the royal connections - or face a High Court lawsuit, which is familiar territory for the conflict group. During a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday, Waters' pro-Russian stance saw him make a dramatic appearance - notably with his dog - where he 'condemned' the invasion of Ukraine but then attacked the 'pros', who also condemned the Russian invasion. He says the besieged nation isn't really a country at all, and that it should be dismissed as a "patchy sort of vague experiment." Since the latter attacked Waters on social media and accused him of antisemitism, the 79-year-old has traded barbs with former bandmate David Gilmour and even the guitarist's wife, lyricist Polly Samson, who denies it. However, the rivalry goes back decades, right back to when guitarist Gilmour first joined Pink Floyd in 1968, a few weeks after enigmatic lead singer Syd Barrett was booted out due to his poor mental stability and profuse use of psychedelic drugs. The partnership brought even more success to the band and multi-million dollars to its members, but it would also bring an unprecedented rivalry between Waters and Gilmour over who was the driving force.

Despite breaking ties with the LGBTQ+ charity, the BBC's helpline for topics that were not covered in its programmes directs viewers of RuPaul's Drag Race UK to Stonewall. With contact information for businesses concerned with bereavement, terminal illness, HIV, and mental health, as well as LGBT, BBC Action Line provides assistance for viewers of the reality competition series. The corporation had distanced itself from the charity, announcing that it would withdraw from the Diversity Champions Programme in 2021 after the partnership 'led to questions regarding whether the BBC could be truly impartial.' Diversity Champions, where companies sign up and pay for Stonewall's advice on how to create a welcoming environment for LGBT employees, had been dogged by controversies after Chief Executive Nancy Kelley said that 'gender critical' beliefs, implying that a person's biological sex cannot be modified, were similar to anti-semitism.

Pink Floyd is promoting the unveiling of its Animals remix album by lighting up the Battersea Power Station, which served as the backdrop for the album's cover in 1977. In the late 1970s at Britannia Row Studios in London, Pink Floyd self-produced their Animals album. The cover of the journal featured a now-famous snapshot of Battersea Power Station with a pink pig flying in the sky above it. Animals, the legendary English rock band, first appeared on the hit album earlier this month (2018 Remix). The album's cover includes a new photograph of the power station and the iconic flying pig. To promote the album's debut, the band held a light show at the station this week, projecting the album's original artwork. However, the parade did not include an inflatable pig, much to fans' dismay.
