Nathuram Godse Life

At a point blank range in New Delhi on January 30, 1948, Nathuram Vinayak Godse (19 May 1910 – 15 November 1949) was the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, who shot Gandhi in the chest three times.

With Narayan Apte and six others, Godse, a promoter of Hindu nationalism from Pune, Maharashtra, who believed Gandhi to have approved India's political aspirations during India's partition, planned the assassination.

On October 8, 1949, Godse was sentenced to death after a lengthy trial.

Though Gandhi's two sons, Manilal Gandhi and Ramdas Gandhi, were turned down by India's prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, deputy prime minister Vallabhbhai Patel, and Governor General C. Rajagopalachari, despite that pleas for commutation were made.

On November 15, 1949, Godse was hanged in the Ambala Central Jail.

Early life

Nathuram Vinayakrao Godse was born in a Maharashtrian Chitpavan Brahmin family. Vinayak Valiant Godse, his father, was a postal employee; his mother, Lakshmi, was née Godavari). Ramachandra was the name of a boy at birth. Because of an unfortunate occurrence, Nathuram was given his name. He had three sons and a daughter before he was born, with all three boys dying in their infancy. Young Ramachandra was born as a boy for the first few years of his life, including having his nose pierced and being required to wear a nose-ring (nath in Marathi). It was then that he received the nickname "Nathuram" (literally "Ram with a nose ring") (literally "Ram with a nose ring"). They began treating him as a child right after his older brother was born.

Godse attended the local school in Baramati up to the fifth grade, after which he was sent to live with an aunt in Pune so he could attend an English-language school.
