Minor Cooper Keith (1948 – 14 June 1929) was an American businessman whose railroad, commercial agriculture, and shipping industries had a major influence on the Central American nations and Colombia's national economies.

Chiquita Brands International, a world renowned banana firm, acquired his pioneering banana company. Minor C. Keith, a businessman, is known for his pioneership in the establishment and administration of a multinational firm, as well as exporting and importing goods from the Caribbean Sea's countries.

Early life

Keith was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the lumber merchant Minor Hubbell Keith and his sister Emily, cousin of railroad entrepreneur Henry Meiggs. Keith, a sixteen-year-old boy, had been working as a Broadway clerk after private schooling. He resigned from clerking and into lumber surveyor some months later. Keith bought a cattle ranch on a river island near the Rio Grande's mouth in southern Texas, which he managed until 1871. He accepted his uncle's invitation to help with the construction of a railroad in Costa Rica, Central America.
