In 2014 & 2015, Alejandro G. Iñárritu won back to back Best Director Oscars (and absolutely deservingly so) for the one-two knock-out punches of Birdman & The Revenant. And then…disappeared for 7 years! Well, the wait for us fans is finally over as his latest epic ‘Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’ has finally been released via Netflix this weekend. This will absolutely be an acquired taste for many as it is an almost 3 Hr introspective journey without much straight story telling (picture Malick’s Tree Of Life, Fellini’s 8 1/2, Fosse’s All That Jazz, etc)…but for the patient cinefile, this is pure nirvana! 🎥 🎞️ Iñárritu’s most personal film since 2010’s Biutiful…and easily my Favorite Film of the Year and will surely end up being one of my favs of the decade as well! 🙌 You needn’t go any further than watching this brilliant trailer (scored to ‘I Am The Walrus’) to know what you’re getting yourself into… https://youtu.be/lCQimQfDuTs

Did a 2nd rewatch of two of my favorite films of the year: X & Pearl. The former is like Boogie Nights meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the latter is like Psycho meets Joker meets The Wizard Of Oz! Ti West & Mia Goth have created two cult classics (Mia’s extended monologue at the end of Pearl is one of the all time great performances) and I can’t wait for the 3rd chapter w #maXXXine #TiWest #MiaGoth #X #Pearl xmovie a24
