Mike Olsen Career

Career

Olsen is a two-time champion of the NASCAR Busch North Series, winning the title in 2001 and 2006. He started racing in 1989 and appeared in 288 events in the series between then and 2009, winning six times in a row. The bulk of his time in the series was sponsored by Little Trees air fresheners. He had been crowned the winner of the 2005 Toyota All-Star Showdown over David Gilliland, but it was discovered in post-race inspection that wrong right-side wheels had been fitted on his vehicle. Olsen was disqualified as a result, with Gilliland being named the winner.

Olsen has appeared in eleven NASCAR Busch Series events between 1996 and 2000, with the majority being combination races between the Busch and Busch North series; the majority of him being 18th in the Busch Series series. Olsen made three starts in the NASC Craftsman Truck Series, two in 2001 and one in 2008; his highest finish in the series is 29th.

Olsen returned to action in 2012, finishing 12th in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at Portland International Raceway, after many years away from NASCAR racing; he started 30th in the 30-car category and finished 24th. Olsen made his debut in NASCAR's top series, the Sprint Cup Series, in September at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, driving the No. 301. 32 Ford for FAS Lane Racing; he came in 33nd in the competition, which he said was likely to be his first and only race in the series. This will be Olsen's last appearance in a NASCAR-sanctioned tournament.
