Today’s “What the Critics Said About the Beatles in 1964” comes from New York Times critic, Theodore Strongin: “Visually they are a nightmare, tight, dandified Edwardian-Beatnik suits and great pudding bowls of hair. Musically they are a near disaster, guitars and drums slamming out a merciless beat that does away with secondary rhythms, harmony and melody. Their lyrics (punctuated by nutty shouts of “yeah, yeah, yeah”) are a catastrophe, a preposterous farrago of Valentine-card romantic sentiments…. The big question in the music business at the moment is, will the Beatles last? The odds are that, in the words of another era, they’re too hot not to cool down, and a cooled-down Beatle is hard to picture. It is also hard to imagine any other field in which they could apply their talents, and so the odds are that they will fade away, as most adults confidently predict. But the odds in show business have a way of being broken, and the Beatles have more showmanship than any group in years; they might just think up a new field for themselves. After all, they have done it already.” Posted by @michaelfmoore on Sep 19, 2022 05:20AM

For the past week I watched cable news fawn over Queen Elizabeth II and couldn’t help but wonder — was this obviously subjective reporting an appropriate mark of respect for Elizabeth the mother, grandmother, and seemingly good person with an apparent sense of humor, or was it the beginning of the rewrite of history for the Queen who for 70 years reigned atop a monarchy steeped in colonialism, racism, and elitism? Hear my thoughts, plus listen to a brilliant essay penned by acclaimed author & journalist Chris Hedges on this week’s episode of Rumble with Michael Moore. Imagine, if you will, for just one moment, a United States Congress — the House and the Senate — without a single Republican holding office. A party of traitors that the American people simply vote entirely out of office. Poof. Gone. History. We’ve done it before, voting out and ending entire political parties. Other democracies have voted every right-winger out of office. Sometimes, the only way to save yourselves is to crush the enemy who is hell-bent on crushing you. Thanks to a Supreme Court that Trump packed with religious zealots, they issued an edict on June 24th that sealed their doom and the end of the Republican Party as we know it. Here’s how to make sure they reap what they have sown — less than 10 weeks from today… Link in IG Stories or Listen at MichaelMoore.com Posted by @michaelfmoore on Sep 2, 2022 01:11PM
