Life and career

Michael Gordon was born in Florida on July 20, 1956, and grew up in Nicaragua and on the outskirts of Managua in an Eastern European Jewish community before moving to Miami Beach at age of eight.

Gordon's music is an outgrowth of his experience with underground rock bands in New York City and his formal training in composition at Yale where he studied with Martin Bresnick. He is based in New York City.

Michael Gordon, a former Gold Coast Titans player and mentor, has avoided jail time after being found guilty of two drug supply charges. In November 2020, the 38-year-old man was arrested at his Casuarina home as part of a crackdown on cocaine and MDMA supply across the NSW and Queensland border. Gordon, who appeared in 561 NRL games before retiring at the end of 2019, was charged with two counts of supplying a banned drug and two counts of possessing a banned drug.
