EastEnders icon Lindsey Coulson is reportedly joining the next Waterloo Road series amid rumours she will make a shocking return for the soap's 40th anniversary.  The actress, 64, who plays Carol Jackson in the BBC soap, has reportedly already begun filming for the next series of the school drama.  According to The Sun, she will be starring as the new headteacher in the show with Jason Manford departing as Mr Savage after just one series. 

The actress first appeared on screens as troubled runaway Ruby Allen in EastEnders back in 2005, hanging around Albert Square with the likes of Stacey Slater.

An EastEnders legend is soon set to make a huge return 10 years after quitting the soap. Michael French, 61, - who plays the iconic character of David Wicks - is making a shock comeback for a short stint of episodes later this year. More than 30 years after he debuted in Albert Square as Pat Butcher's son, the character will head back home in the coming months.
