PATRICK MARMION: The scenery is supposed to wobble. The gags are supposed to make us groan. And the rain-dropping, door-banging mania is likely to creak like the Mary Celeste. Michael Frayn's vintage farce, which stars Felicity Kendal, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Alexander Hanson, and Matthew Kelly, is right up there with Fawlty Towers as a bravura piece of comedy plotting. This is unlike John Cleese's comedies, but there are no familiar characters such as Basil, Sybil, and The Major. And it's certainly showing its age, with gags including a mention of Dame Myra Hess (a once-famous pianist, M'Lud) who performed during the air raids.
