EXCLUSIVE: A pensioner who received a prison term for running over a juvenile whose anti-social activity had made his life miserable has slammed police who refused to prosecute, causing him to take the initiative into his own hands. Michael Ashton (left and right with wife Maureen, 72), 67, yelled his Audi into the 16-year-old tragedy, throwing him off his scooter after he yelled him away from his house following a campaign of coercion by the boy. At his appeal, he was charged with reckless driving, but Judge Rupert Lowe chastised the police and Crown Prosecution Service for failing to investigate Mr Ashton's anti-social behavior.

Michael Ashton had alerted police about the youth's behavior toward him, but no further action was taken, as the teen was taken out of his own hands by knocking the teen off his scooter on October 11, 2021, Gloucester Crown Court heard. Multiple bruises, a fractured foot, and whiplash injuries were all present in the boy. Judge Rupert Lowe expressed surprise in the news that the police and Crown Prosecution Service had apparently done nothing to investigate Ashton's allegation of antisocial activity. Mr Ashton said, "It is very irresponsible of the CPS not to have investigated this further considering the length that it has taken for the CPS not to have come to court." I'm not saying this at any individual, but although you pleaded guilty early in the trial, it seems to have lost interest in this situation and it has been pushed down the priority list.'
