Melissa Wells (inset) of Tasmania's north-west approached the Circular Head Council in a meeting on Thursday, saying she was a 'voice' for the state's famous marsupials. At the packed meeting (left), Ms Wells was seen holding the roadkill carcass of a Tasmanian devil at the crowded gathering. Members of the Council were debating plans to reduce the speed limit from 100 to 80 on a notorious 25-kilometer stretch of road in the area. Tassie Devil roadkill carnage is a popular tourist route in Newcastle and West Montagu, with nearly 100 of the carnivorous marsupials killed each year.
