i bought the one on the right in 1994. it was the first 6 string acoustic i’d ever owned. i got it at westwoodmusicla (on the day kurt cobain died) from bookmarkmusic and it’s hands down the best sounding dreadnought most folks have ever heard. it records like a beast. i didnt want to tour with it again (headstock broke in 2009 @ a KFOG radio show) but i can’t be without it. plus i recorded Some Mad Hope with it, so it seemed fitting that it should come out on this run. i had the guitar on the left built in 2008, after i’d made a little money, for the modern love record. trying to emulate my idol, amyraymusic of indigogirlsmusic, i had them paint it black. and the headstock is pearloid for a little sass. both guitars are collingsguitars. their work is impeccable. and, as dumb and woo woo as this sounds… when i play them i feel safe.

im tired of talking about our travel woes so i am doing a tour #photodump from the last couple days. 1: stripped down manfolkin! 📸 ninaereid 2: facetime with mochi 3: prince store @ minneapolis airport 🥰 4: chicago hotel floor 5: AMAZING night in indianapolis 6: AMAZING venue during soundcheck, right before an amazing show in columbus (you sang like fucking passionate angels!) everyday is presenting new challenges. but like my wife says “just because it’s a challenge doesn’t mean it’s a problem”. we’ve made it to every show and they’ve felt cathartic and magical and united and essential. thank you to everyone who has been coming out (in droves!) see you tonight, pittsburgh!!❤️

we have been doing this together for a looooooong time, minneapolis. and you ALWAYS bring it. last night was no exception. 2 shows. 1 day. i was hoping to get a “suspended” sing along in there to close out show 2, but we hit venue curfew... we’ll have to save that one for next time! 💜 📸 losgarpa

MADISON!! donovanwoods came off stage after his set last night and said “this crowd is amazing, and SO FUCKING NICE!” and he couldnt have been more right… it felt like playing a (very big) house show… thanks for listening SO HARD! its super rewarding (and cathartic) to roll out the Some Mad Hope story to folks who listen like you did. truth told, its been an amazing tour for that all around. ❤️ MINNEAPOLIS, YOU’RE UP NEXT. 2 SHOWS TODAY!
