'Family means more to some than others and for John, his family unit was something he absolutely adored,' Mr Chapman said. 'He told me: ''Matty, the message I would tell everyone is you never know when it's going to be the last day you see your family''. Brough Scott claimed the BBC Radio 5 Live racing star was looking forward to the prospect of his beloved partner Carol accompanying him during the games just days before she and his two daughters were killed. The horse racing journalist wrote in a touching tribute in The Times that he and the doting father, who is set to commentate the Olympic swimming, had on Saturday discussed the prospect of a family meet up in the French capital. But following what Scott described as 'the very worst of tragedies', after Carol, 61, and their two daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were found fatally injured at their home on Tuesday, she will no longer be able to.
How popular BBC racing star John Hunt would show off pictures of his beloved wife and daughters at every given moment and credit them for his remarkable career before horrific crossbow killings
www.dailymail.co.uk,

John Hunt, a devoted father who would show off photos of his beloved wife and daughters at any given moment, has horrifically found himself at the heart of an incomprehensible tragedy. The outpouring of shared grief and pain from those who know the BBC Radio 5 Live racing star sheds light on how loved the doting father-of-three is. John, a BBC commentator of 30 years, was going about an ordinary Tuesday, covering a meeting at Lingfield Racecourse. He could never have imagined that his life would be turned upside down by a crossbow-wielding killer targeting his family. John's wife of 33 years Carol, 61, and two daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were found fatally injured at their home in the quiet cul-de-sac of Ashlyn Close in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday evening.

www.dailymail.co.uk,

Paul Skenes was back on the hill in Pittsburgh on Thursday, which meant Pirates fans were treated to another appearance by his internet sensation girlfriend, Livvy Dunne. The rookie hurler tossed six strong innings, but didn't factor in the decision as his Pirates blew a 5-2 lead to fall 7-6 to the visiting San Francisco Giants. But that was of little concern to one young fan, who was asked by Pittsburgh's sideline reporter to name his favorite thing about the rookie sensation. 'His mustache and Livvy Dunne,' said the young, Pirates fan, who was, himself, wearing a fake mustache.

There's no point in pretending otherwise: it's the last day of the Cheltenham Festival 2024, and all amateur photography around the world cannot deny this. www.dailymail.co.uk,

We're hoping that there will be no early drama for today's seven-race card, at least before the game gets underway. The Paddy Power Stayer's Hurdle is the headline act at 15:30, where Teahupoo is expected to go a few places better than last season, although stablemate Sire Du Berlais is also on the line up. And even if this heavyweight match splits the action, there are still a slew of questions to be answered on the undercard as we reach the final two days of the four-day fiesta.

Tuesday brought a slew of thrills, spills, and - if you had a little bit of luck - dollar bills, and we wouldn't be surprised if day two's Cheltenham Festival line-up was just as much of a rollercoaster ride for punters as well as your humble bookmaking pal. Whether you're up, down, or somewhere in the middle of day one, there are seven more thrilling races of top-class National Hunt fare on Wednesday to get into – try to keep your excitement. We'll know by about 1.35pm if Willie Mullins made the correct decision in diverting Ballyburn to the Gallagher Novices' Hurdle after Slade Steel ranked the form in Tuesday's opener. If Ballyburn disappoints, Mullins still saddles market leaders Fact To File (2.10pm), Sa Majeste (2.50pm), El Fabiolo (3.30pm), and others as he continues to turn the tide on day two.
CHELTENHAM BREAKFAST: Rachael Blackmore, the one JP McManus runner who has bookies anxious, is a joy, so watch out for the 6ft 4in jockey.... plus Paddy Power's CHEAT SHEET for Day One
www.dailymail.co.uk,
March 12, 2024
CHELTENHAM's BREAKFAST: In Cheltenham's parade ring on Monday, there was another convincing argument to show that "never meet your heroes" should be withdrawn. Rachael Blackmore had a slot in her diary to say hello to a group of schoolchildren who had come to see behind the scenes at the school. It's normal for athletes to give lip service to these kinds of sporting activities on the eve of such a big sporting event. Blackmore made a point of speaking to every kid, posing for photographs, and leaving 10-year-old girls open-mouthed in wonder.

We've arrived halfway through the 2023 Major League Baseball season, and the old rules haven't been followed. The Cardinals and Padres are a mess, the Marlins and Orioles are raging into the playoffs, and anyone who made a pre-season forecast of the Mets or Yankees is rubbing their eyes in disbelief. Two and a half months remain for teams to sort themselves out for the pennant chase, and as the regular season hits pause and MLB heads to Seattle for the All-Star Break, Mail Sport grades all 30 teams on their 2023 campaign so far:

After doing extensive practice in the minors and a dress rehearsal of sorts during this year's big league spring training, restrictions on infield shifts, a pitch clock, and larger bases were all introduced on the first day.

To be honest, we're all hung over a little after a week of heavy socializing, but you'll have to crank up the energy for the Cheltenham Festival's final day. I suspect they will not be back for a fourth round after being stunned by some of the bedraggled souls struggling out after Day 3 of this glorious week. Yet this is St Patrick's Day and the rules are clearly defined; you have to party whether you want to or not!

As tempers erupted between the AL East rivals on Sunday night, Toronto starter Alek Manoah angered New York Yankees' ace Gerrit Cole by hitting star man Aaron Judge in the elbow with a sinker. Aaron Boone's side won a game they so desperately needed after defeating the Blue Jays 4-2 on Sunday night. When Manoah plunked a major league home run leader Judge in the left elbow in the fifth inning, he did his best to shock the AL East leaders.
