He's famous for his notoriously complicated Middle Eastern recipes - but it turns out, Yotam Ottolenghi (pictured) has a more minimalist approach when it comes to his kitchen utensils.  The celebrity chef, 55, who has eight London restaurants (inset), gushed about his favourite cooking utensils on the podcast The Enoughness with Melanie Rickey. During the recording, Yotam said he prefers to invest in 'timeless' tools - rather than chasing culinary trends. The cookbook author explained: 'I don't have an air fryer. I don't have a slow cooker. I don't have a rice cooker.'

Fridays have become 'tougher' for hospital firms amid a shift in post-Covid pandemic working patterns, the boss of a pizza chain has suggested. Thom Elliot (pictured with brother James and Mary Berry), co-founder of Pizza Pilgrims, said dining behaviour had changed with the onset of hybrid working - making Sundays busier but Fridays less buzzing. Consumers are tucking into 'treat meals' during the week but indulging more on not only Saturdays but also Sundays, he says. It comes after pub chiefs told of their struggles with a loss of post-work business with more people working from home - but some signs of people making a point of going in on Fridays to catch up with colleagues for end-of-the-week drinks.

Prue Leith has revealed she tried to quit The Great British Bake Off but was talked into staying by the show's producers.  The restaurateur, 84, has been a judge on the cooking competition since she replaced Mary Berry 2016.  And as the show gears up to return for its fifteenth series next week, Prue admitted she almost didn't come back after the intense filming schedule got too much.

But that may be changing as US media giant Fox has just expanded Tubi, a streaming service that doesn't require payment or even a signup process. Now, a hilarious war of words between Netflix and Tubi has resurfaced on X (Twitter), showing that the rivalry between the two runs deep.

Dame Prue Leith has admitted that she almost didn't apply to replace Mary Berry on the Great British Bake Off as she feared she wouldn't tick the 'diversity boxes'. The restaurateur, 84, has been a judge on the cooking competition since she replaced Mary Berry 2016. However, this very nearly wasn't the case as Prue reveals she initially completely dismissed the idea. It was revealed that the women had known each other since the 1970s when a photo of them with broadcaster Jack de Manio (1914-1988) was unearthed. Prue told the Sliding Doors podcast with Jennie Becker: 'I just jumped at it. I had begun to think about it, once I knew Mary Berry was not going to go on. I thought: "Oh, I'd love that job", but I dismissed the thought.
