Martin Clunes accuses his neighbours of being 'cynical and dishonest' in latest salvo in long-running war over their static caravan
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 6, 2024
The Men Behaving Badly star, 62, was last month dealt a blow in his fight against a traveller site near his £3 million home. Self-proclaimed 'new age travellers' Theo Langton and Ruth McGill's plans to convert a static caravan 300ft from Mr Clunes' 130-acre Dorset farm were recommended for approval by Beaminster town council. But the row has now escalated further with the TV star writing a furious email to the local planning authority to accuse the couple of being 'cynical and dishonest' in describing their home as 'mobile'. Mr Langton and Miss McGill have lived on a woodland plot they own for 21 years without running water or electricity. In that time they have repeatedly been granted a temporary licence to stay on the site and have become popular members of the rural community.

They have also accused the TV star of installing a swimming pool on his property without planning permission.

Surfers, fishermen, and Doc Martin, all in Cornish village, are banding together against proposals for a seaweed farm the size of 180 football pitches

March 21, 2024
You may have seen it in any number of film or television dramas, from Poldark to Doc Martin (bottom right). You may have seen it in any number of film or television dramas, from Poldark to Jamaica Inn. Given the millions of people who come here every summer, you may have seen it with your own eyes. According to Robert Hardman, the most surprising part of the North Cornish coast, given how much development has occurred over the years, is that the majority of it remains unspoiled. Stand on Doyden Point and look out left and right across the Atlantic, and the landscape will be no different from what a Georgian or Victorian walker would have seen. That could, however, be about to change. Various 'aquaculture' schemes are in hand, and these waters, for all their professed eco-friendliness, will make these waters look very different. And the local reaction has been nothing less than raucous. So what is this grim threat to a much-loved shoreline? Seaweed, actually. More specifically, the issue is linked to hitherto clandestine plans to raise the produce in the open sea near to some of Britain's most popular holiday haunts.

In a fight against proposed seaweed farms in Port Quin Bay, Martin Clunes is leading a group of celebrities, including Andrew Lincoln, including Andrew Lincoln, who was shot on the hit show Doc Martin. The 61-year-old Doc Martin actor from Beaminster, Dorset, has branded the Cornish farms' proposals as 'nothing less than criminal.' The actor, who is best known for his lead role as the grumpy GP in the sleepy fishing village, calls the scheme by Biome Algae and Camel Fish Limited 'a hideous scheme'. Port Quin Bay's company intends to develop two 50-hectare industrial seaweed farms as large as 140 football pitches, much to the locals' chagrin. Andrew Lincoln, a Love Actually actor, has also joined the drive to save the bay as a natural landmark in the area.

EMILY PRESCOTT (Japan): According to Netflix, terrestrial television stations such as ITV are priced out of the drama business, as well as television stations such as Netflix. With Martin Clunes' support, friends and neighbors of the hippie couple have been embroiled in a planning dispute

Friends and neighbors of a couple (left) who have submitted plans for a permanent travellers' website (top inset) next to actor Martin Clunes' home have written to the local authority to assist the 'valued members of the community.' The Doc Martin singer, 61, and other villagers near his house in Beaminster, Dorset, are protesting the scheme by Theo Langton and Ruth McGill. The couple, who have lived on a 45-ft mobile home on land they owned at Meerhay for 25 years, have applied for planning permission to remain resident permanently.
Locals suspect Martin Clunes of'embarrassing travesty' as they support their family's in a war
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 29, 2023
After he protested a Traveller site being built near his house, locals in actor Martin Clunes' (left) Dorset town accused him of being "entitled" and having a "misplaced sense of place. The 61-year-old Doc Martin actor from Beaminster, Dorset, has stated his displeasure with Theo Langton and Ruth McGill's proposal to establish the site as a permanent Traveller base so they can stay indefinitely. When Mr Clunes and his television producer wife, Philippa Braithwaite, 58, purchased a 130-acre Higher Meerhay Farm from Mr Langton's mother in 2007, the couple had already migrated out of her house and into the land years before. Since raising two young children in the woods, theo Langton and Ruth McGill (both right), who claim to regularly go to fairs and markets, they are now homeless, but not in the absence of the most basic of services. Despite the wealthy couple's request, the majority of the population now supports the couple's request,' according to The Times.
Martin Clunes wins an extra time in a contest against hippie neighbors who claim to be visitors
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 19, 2023
The 61-year-old Doc Martin (right) of Beaminster, Dorset, has objected to the application, saying that they are not 'nomads' and that the plans would set a 'harmful precedent.' Theo Langton and Ruth McGill, who have lived in a 45ft by 16ft mobile home on land they own (inset) at Meerhay for 25 years, have applied for planning permission to continue living there permanently. The site is 300 yards from the Clunes' house and is partially obscured by trees, but the actor has claimed that if his view was "spoilt," it would be a'shame'. Several other neighbors have joined him in their protests. Now the decision has been postponed, with the issue unlikely to be considered for at least another month.
Martin Clunes' planning dispute: neighbors are 'aren't tourists,' according to Doc Martin's narrator
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 18, 2023
Martin Clunes has launched a last-ditch attempt to discourage his younger hippie neighbors from building a traveller website underneath his hilltop manor house by claiming that the two are not real travelers. Ruth McGill and theo Langdon group applied for a permanent site in Meerhay, Dorset, causing the actor and his neighbors to complain that the location is 'unsuitable' and will spoil their view. Planning officials at Dorset Council have supported the couple, who are under pressure to have tourist and gypsies. However, Mr Clunes' top advocate claims that there are no convincing reasons that they are really nomadic people. John Steel KC's latest analysis warns that if the couple's planning permission for the encampment based on the assertion that they are visitors, the local authority would act unlawfully. 'The application is specifically for a 'Traveller site,' Mr Steel said.' There is no evidence that either applicant is presently a Traveller within the meaning of planning regulations.'

The panoramic view from Martin Clunes' (left) West Dorset home is enthralling on a sunny April day. The 16th century gothic tower of St Mary's in Beaminster, rolling hills as far as the eye can see, lush green fields, swaths of oak and beech trees, and, dominating the skyline. Alas, a late 61-year-old Clunes' latter feature, has become something of a sore point. In this idyllic corner of South-West England, he is currently embroiled in attempts to suspend plans for a permanent traveller site (inset) among trees. In the absence of a traditional sewage system, Theo Langton and his partner Ruth McGill (right) have been living in a static caravan for more than 20 years, with no running water or electricity and a compost toilet.

Despite locals and Beaminster town councillors' concerns that the location was 'unsuitable' for a visitors' campment, the application has now been accepted by planning authorities at Dorset Council. Dorset councillors will now vote on the petition.
Martin Clunes and his hippie neighbor are at war over a traveller website that 'is the heir to a fortune.'
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 11, 2023
Martin Clunes, a film actor, is embroiled in a land dispute with a teen whose own mother sold the mansion to the actor, making him the heir to a fortune. Dorset Council recommended that a permanent traveller website be constructed on Winter Barn, Meerhay, just outside Beaminster, right next to the TV star's Dorset farm. Philippa, the actor's wife, 58, and his fellow villagers are vehemently opposed to the plan and have registered an objection to plans for the turbulent growth. Theo Langdon, 52, and his partner Ruth McGill (pictured in 2007 with their two children) have been living in the unauthorised mobile home on land that has been owned for 25 years, with locals claiming that presence brings 'harm' to the area's 'character and beauty.' However, new registry reports have revealed that Theo's mother, Georgia Langton, a renowned garden designer, sold the mansion to Clunes for about £350,000 and later sold the remaining portion of the property to her son for £128,315 in June 2019.
