He came third behind Tony Brown and Adoree Jackson, and ESPN.com ranked him fifth after Peppers, Brown, Jackson, and Teez Tabor. Humphrey was ranked as the best recruit from Alabama in his class by Rivals and 247Sports, while ESPN ranked him second, behind Bo Scarbrough.

Humphrey also competed at a world-class level in high school. At the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine, he received a silver medal in the 110 meters hurdles. Humphrey was also selected to the USA Today All-American Track and Field Team.

College career

Humphrey's goal was to compete in football and on the Crimson Tide. In 2015, he became a starter at cornerback after redshirting his first year in Tuscaloosa.

At Alabama, the Crimson Tide's second-string cornerback had an electrifying first year. In his first game against Wisconsin and ranked second on the team in interceptions with three out of three during the 2015 season, he started with a 3rd position. Humphrey was an integral part of an elite 2015 Alabama defense system, receiving the All-American right. The team went on to win their 16th national championship.

In his last season with Humphrey, he earned first-team All-American recognition in his first season. He made the team's first interception against the United StatesC on a touchdown in 2016 and the team's first interception since then and has appeared in 14 games. Humphrey continued to dominate opposing receivers for the remainder of the season, and he declared his early departure from the NFL draft early.

Professional career

Humphrey was given an invitation to the NFL Combine and undertook almost all of the required drills, except for the shuttle and vertical. He attended Pro Day in Alabama and decided not to do positional drills for the scouts and team members. He has worked with numerous franchises, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers, among others.

Humphrey was supposed to be a first round pick by NFL draft experts and scouts at the conclusion of the pre-draft process. Humphrey apologised to Beckham after the game, but said that his reaction to Beckham was not a brand of football he wanted to represent. Humphrey compelled wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to fumble the ball and recovered the ball against the Pittsburgh Steelers in week five. In the 26–23 victory, Humphrey's forced fumble set up a game-winning field goal by Justin Tucker.
