John Lennon's (left) last forecast, on the day he was murdered, is so sad, it makes the skin prickle. 'I'm not finished,' the former Beatle told RKO radio producer Laurie Kaye in his last interview, 'until I'm dead and buried,' and I hope that's a long, long time.' In a three-part documentary released this week, John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial (Apple TV+) reveals how a pushy, distracted fan badgered them outside Lennon's apartment block in New York the day in December 1980. She turned and walked away, disregarding him. Mark David Chapman (right), a 25-year-old man from Hawaii, demanded an autograph from Lennon, then waited until the actor returned to the world and shot him dead, firing five bullets. The Lennon murder is so well known that it's surprising to learn how much has never been revealed until now and how many people have not been asked for their consent. Jay Hastings, the concierge of Lennon's Dakota home, gives his account - describing how Lennon ran a few steps past him gasping, 'I'm shot,' blood streaming from his mouth before collapsing, writes Christopher Stevens.

EXCLUSIVE: According to a British writer investigating the incident, two separate weapons (the.38 calibre handgun used by Mark David Chapman inset bottom) may have been used in the John Lennon (right with Yoko Ono) shooting. David Whelan, a writer and television presenter, has discovered official documents (morgue report left), revealing for the first time that two different types of bullets were removed from the musician's body following his deadly shooting on December 8, 1980. Mr Whelan believes a "second shooter" may have been involved in Lennon's assassination and has now uncovered shocking new evidence supporting his claim. Mr Whelan's three-year inquiry into the shooting has revealed a string of bizarre anomalies, including the suggestion that detectives may have fundamentally misunderstood how the shooting occurred. For the first time, MailOnline has exclusively published some of Whelan's dossier, including convicted gunman Mark Chapman's (inset top) 'hit list,' as well as former Beatle Marlon Brando and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
