Early life and education
Scribner was born and raised in Los Angeles. His name is derived from Roman and Greek mythology, as well as those of his father Troy and sister Athena. Scribner also has Zeus, a puppy he adopted as a souvenir of his first professional acting career. His father is black, but his mother is biracial, much like his character on Black-ish, although his mother is biracial (Black and white). His father's family is from Los Angeles, but his maternal grandmother is from England. At the age of seven, he began training acting. He was very shy and didn't have any interests at the time, and didn't have any hobbies. Scribner took an acting class and immediately fell in love with it. Scribner began taking acting classes on weekends right from that point. Scribner later admitted that he was afraid of being hurt at the time. Despite that, he loves sports like basketball and lacrosse, as well as video games. Scribner first stepped on concrete while playing basketball and had to get five staples. Scribner began playing the clarinet in fifth grade. Despite Scribner's enrollment in public high school in 2014, he was enrolled in homeschool by early 2015 to accommodate his work schedule.

Scribner booked his first guest-starring role on ABC's dramedy Castle when he was ten years old. Scribner will appear in an episode of Fox's New Girl, TBS' Wedding Band, and Nickelodeon's Wendell & Vinnie. Scribner's first major role appeared in the ABC sitcom Black-ish opposite Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Laurence Fishburne, and Jenifer Lewis at the age of 14. In the role, Scribner beat out Anderson's own son Nathan. In a Teen Vogue interview, the actor confessed that he was heavily associated with the show. Scribner was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his portrayal of Junior in the first season of the NAACP Image Award. Following the conclusion of Black-ish's eight season run, it was announced in March 2022 that Scribner would continue as Andre Johnson Jr. in his fifth season.
