Marcus Davis Career

Mixed martial arts career

Davis became a professional wrestler on August 22, 2003, with a first-round TKO of Shaun Gay. Davis, who later referred to himself as "one-dimensional," was able to put together a 3–2 professional record.

Marcus was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 2 in 2005. In episode four, he selected Joe Stevenson, who was regarded as a hero in the event, as Davis was quickly dismissed by the eventual winner and submitted. Jason Von Flue, who sustained a cut on his forehead in practice, was later brought back to cover in episode ten, but Von Flue's cut was still healing enough in time to fight. Marcus fought on the undercard of the final, where he lost to Melvin Guillard.

Davis seriously considered retirement following the string of events, but he recovered from a shoulder injury suffered against Joe Stevenson and returned to MMA training. Davis regained control with 11 victories, including a thrilling return to the UFC at Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter.

In Davis' match against Paul Taylor at UFC 75 in London, England, he was knocked down by a strong elbow to the chest but he was able to recover, regained control, and land an armbar as Taylor fought to regain control. Marcus was crowned Night of the Night as well as the night's submission of the fight. He was given $80,000 in compensation for his success in the submission and battle of the night awards. At UFC 80 in Newcastle, England, his next fight was a highlight-reel knockout victory over fierce rival Jess Liaudin.

Marcus Davis ended his six-fight undefeated streak in the octagon and 11-fight winning streak in MMA with a unanimous vote at UFC 85. With a submission victory over England's Paul Kelly at UFC 89, he got back to winning ways.

Davis defeated Chris Lytle at UFC 93 on January 17, 2009. Both fighters are former boxers and have been discussing a potential fight in their futures since early 2008. At UFC 89, Lytle called out Davis. He suggested that the war be held in Ireland, where Davis had a large following due to his emphasis on his Irish roots. Both fighters committed to stand and trade blows for the entire fight rather than engage in grappling. Lytle managed to stun Davis several times, but Davis won a split decision due to her superior footwork, counter-punching, and kicks. Davis was given a $40,000 bonus for his fight in the Coleman/Rua co-main event, giving him a Fight of the Night award.

Davis fought again against Dan Hardy, the up-andcoming striker. When Hardy took responsibility to Davis' defeating British-based fighters in the United Kingdom, the war became personal. Davis' website "looked like a St. Patrick's day parade had blown up," Hardy said of him, "fake Irishman" as well as a "Plastic Paddy." Hardy posted pictures of Davis on Cagewarriors.com, which resulted in several of forum members being edited in "humorous" styles. Any of these edits contained homosexual images that hit a nerve with Davis and heightened the ill-feeling between the two countries. Hardy won the fight by a narrow and controversial split decision. Davis expressed his indignation at the decision, saying, "I won the fight." I won 12 minutes of the fight, and they gave it to him? Right away, I bet you want a rematch.

Davis was knocked out by Ben Saunders due to knee injury on November 21, 2009, at UFC 106. Davis was banned from receiving a medical suspension for up to six months because of a fractured nose.

At UFC 113, Davis defeated Jonathan Goulet. In the second round, he defeated via TKO due to punches.

Davis lost in the third round to Nate Diaz on August 28, 2010, via technical submission (guillotine choke).

Davis revealed that in an interview with MMA Junkie.com Davis, he would return to the Lightweight division for his next UFC appearance, and that he made the decision after realizing that his frame is more suitable for 155 pounds. Davis also stated that he was considering retirement, adding, "I'm going to finish my career at 155 and delight some people along the way before my old assassination date," Davis said. "It does make sense that I should be able to do better at that weight given that the weight difference isn't going to be so dramatic."

Davis beat Jeremy Stephens at UFC 125 on January 1, 2011. Davis was knocked out by a counter right hook at 2:33 of the third round after a back and forth contest that saw him gain an edge on the judges' scorecards.

Davis had been suspended by the UFC after losing four out of his last five fights on January 6, 2011.

Davis had signed a fight with Maximum Fighting Championships and had signed on to face Curtis Demarce at MFC 29. He was victorious in the fight by a split decision. Davis returned to MFC 30 after defeating Pete Spratt by a unanimous decision in a rematch of their fight from UFC 69.

Davis was supposed to face Josh Hersey in Portland, Maine, but Hersey was forced to cancel the match due to a knee injury and was replaced by Travis Coyle. Davis defeated Coyle by submission in the first round. Davis defeated Ultimate Fighter 13 alumnus Chuck O'Neil in a Welterweight brawl in Miami, Florida, on October 15. The bout was supposed to be the co-main event, but Jeff Monson was later promoted to the main event after losing to Gabriel Gonzaga's fight. Davis lost by a split vote.

Davis was supposed to face Matt Lee at the Century Fighting Championship: Davis vs. Lee in Salem, New Hampshire, on March 31, 2012. However, the performance was postponed.

Davis turned his hand to kickboxing to face Mark Casserly of the ISKA World Light Cruiserweight (-84.6 kg/186.5 lb) Oriental Championship in Dublin, Ireland, losing by head-kick knockout in round one.

On October 6, 2012 in Malmo, Sweden, Davis retired Karo Parisyan and met David Bielkheden. He was ruled by a unanimous vote.

Davis defeated Darrius Heyliger on May 18, 2013 at NEF 7. Davis defeated Heyliger by a unanimous vote.

Davis faced Ryan Sanders at NEF: Fight Night 12 on February 8, 2014, following his defeat to Alexander Sarnavskiy. Davis lost the match via doctor stoppage TKO in a shocking upset.

Davis made his Bellator debut against Waachiim Spiritwolf on March 21, 2013. Davis crashed Spiritwolf with an inadvertent knee to the groin in the first round, ending the match in a no contest and he could not continue.

In the quarterfinals of Bellator's Season Nine Lightweight Tournament, Davis met Alexander Sarnavskiy on September 27, 2013 at Bellator 101. In the first round, he was disqualified due to a back-naked choke submission.

Marcus Davis' YouTube account hinted that he'd be retiring in 2014.

Davis is set to face Nick Alley at Premier FC 31 on October 31, 2020, according to a tweet on July 21, 2020. Davis was later called off and Davis was rebooked against Stephen Stengel against Stephen Stengel on November 19, 2021, 2021 at Premier FC 32. He obtained the fight by first-round submission.

REVEALED: The specific amount of time you need to walk every day to add a whole YEAR to your life

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 27, 2024
The study analysed data from over 40,000 women and over 30,000 men, who were mostly in their 60s. It showed that men gain more from exercise. A regular walk adds nearly 11 months to women's life compared with 16 months for men. And participants didn't have to be fit to start with: the research showed that the benefits were seen in people that were previously inactive.
