Life and career

Rodd was born in Lyons, Kansas, the grandson of Rosetta (née Thran) and Charles C. Rodd. At Northwestern University, she studied drama. She migrated to New York City in the 1950s and appeared onstage.

Rodd appeared on Broadway in such plays as Neil Simon's "The Last of the Red Hot Lovers" in the 1960s. She appeared in the film T.R. in 1971. Baskin is a character in the black comedy Little Murders starring Elliott Gould. Handle with Care (1977) and Last Embrace (1979) were two of her other film credits.

She appeared in several made-for-television films in the 1970s and then began appearing on television shows for the next three decades. In the role of Maude's daughter Carol Traynor, who was eventually played by Adrienne Barbeau in the film, one of these appearances was in the episode All in the Family, which appeared as the pilot for the series Maude. She appeared on "Mike's Mysterious Son" earlier this season, where she had also appeared on a previous All in the Family episode. M*A*S*H, Match Game '76, and a recurring appearance as Stanley Riverside's wife on Trapper John, M.D. were among the other notable guests on television.

In 1978, she appeared as the ingenue Cynthia Carter in the short-lived stage musical Barbary Coast.

She appeared in a 2003 episode of Without a Trace, the 2012 short film Parallax, and the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless.
