Marcelo Ralvarez (born February 27, 1962) is an Argentine lyric tenor who has achieved international recognition beginning in the mid-1990s. lvarez flies widely, appearing in leading opera houses and concert halls around the world.
He has had an active touring schedule and appeared in 34 roles since the start of his career in 1994.
In addition to his opera and solo recordings, he has released an album dedicated to Latin American tango legend Carlos Gardel's most popular songs, as well as an album of classical duets with Salvatore Licitra.
He has received prestigious accolades for his vocal appearances and has been named one of the top tenors of his generation, as well as his ferocious yet refined role in bel canto, French opera, and, as of 2006, more dramatic lirico pieno (full lyric) and spinto roles. Early years
Lvarez was born in Córdoba, Argentina. He was enrolled in La Escuela de Nirdoba, where he studied music until age 17 and obtained his diploma in music education as a child of five. Despite this musical experience, he went on to study economics at university, and the study of music was completely out of his reach for 12 years. He became the boss of his family's furniture factory in Córdoba after his university studies.
