At the end of the TNT's thrilling victory over West Ham's broadcast, Newcastle presenter Lynsey Hipgrave was left red-faced. In Saturday's lunchtime game at St James' Park, Eddie Howe's men went from 3-1 down to win a thrilling 4-3 match. Hipgrave, who is a huge Newcastle fan, was unsurprisingly delighted as she closed the show in a sarcastic manner.

Exclusive: TNT Sport will attempt to compete with current broadcasters BBC and Sky Sports in a major boost to the women's game

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 11, 2023
MATT HUGHES: Exclusive - MATT HUGHES: For the first time in TNT Sport's first season, the Women's Super League will compete for live rights, which will be a major boost for the women's game. The new £8 million-per-year broadcast contract, in which WSL matches are broadcast between Sky Sports and the BBC, has come to an end, and TNT's bid to raise the price of the TV has diminished dramatically. Although the WSL has yet to announce its invitation to tender, Mail Sport has learned that it will have a significant increase in the number of games available from the new deal, in which Sky broadcast 35 matches-a-season and the BBC 22. Following the conclusion of the Premier League's UK rights auction, the WSL auction is expected to begin in January. An increase in the number of WSL games televised could result in Sky and TNT broadcasting live rights as they do for the Premier League. TNT's excitement in acquiring the WSL has been raised by the prospect that the 3 p.m. blackout could be lifted next season, which would allow them to broadcast live matches on Saturday afternoons. The Warner Brothers/Discovery owned sports channel made the conscious decision to develop their live action program, whereas Sky has less enthusiasm in Saturday afternoon games because they remain dedicated to their famous results and discussion show, Soccer Saturday.
