The former BBC Breakfast host has revealed that she marked her 56th birthday last weekend by allowing herself be stung by a swarm of jellyfish to test her resilience. 'I've just been swimming with jellyfish in the Scilly Isles,' she told the Daily Mail at the launch party for her novel, Isolation Island, at the Revery bar at the London Hilton on Park Lane. 'I like being scared because you learn from it. I thought, "If I swim through these jellyfish, I can do really hard things".' Showing off the scars on her hands, she added: 'I was wearing a wetsuit. Anywhere not covered by the wetsuit, I got jellyfish purple stingers. It was really painful.'

Louise Minchin has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she gave up her budding swimming career as a teenager. The Repair Shop star, 54, announced on Monday that he would be taking time away from social media to process his grief following the death of his uncle, telling his fans the shocking bereavement had left him feeling 'messed up'. Richard Brathwaite, 72, was found dead on Cromwell Road in Wembley around lunchtime on March 21 after a neighbour, who lived on the same street, allegedly knifed him. The incident is said to have blown up about items in the shared alleyway between their homes. During the fatal incident, Mr Blades' 71-year-old aunt Annetta was also injured and suffered cuts to her head and face.
