This is the street where more than half of residents fell ill after drinking tap water infected with a waterborne parasite. Families living on Raddicombe Close - a smart cul-de-sac of 21 homes less than half a mile from the Hillhead underground reservoir in Brixham, South Devon - say the majority of the street has been struck down. Despite several residents complaining to South West Water almost two weeks ago that their tap water had developed an unpleasant taste and was causing sickness, stomach pain and diarrhoea they were repeatedly told it was safe to drink. Totnes MP Anthony Mangnall last night announced the source of the outbreak was a damaged air valve which 'may have allowed animal waste or contaminated groundwater to enter the local supply'.

South West Water has refused to reveal when residents will have to stop boiling their water following an outbreak of cryptosporidium that has shut down parts of Devon. Laura Flowerdew, the company's chief customer officer, has said that in all likelihood the water had been contaminated by a broken air valve which had been contaminated by animal faeces.

Residents living close to the Hillhead Reservoir near Brixham, South Devon, have been warned by South West Water workers they will have to be switched onto alternative sources of water. Meanwhile, MP Anthony Mangnall has claimed 'animal waste' may have got into a damaged air valve, causing contaminated ground water to enter the local supply. This afternoon, around a dozen vans from South West Water were lined up outside a pumping station where the outbreak is believed to have been detected earlier this week. One local, James Martins, said: 'We have been ill for weeks with vomiting, diarrhoea and headaches. We are still feeling bad on an off.
Dirty water crisis could force hotels and restaurants in Devon holiday hotspot to close at half term as families panic buy and boil kettles after falling ill from parasite in contaminated water - as locals say they've suffered stomach bugs for 'weeks'

South West Water (SWW) yesterday urged people to boil their tap water after hundreds fell ill with diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach pains amid a parasite outbreak in contaminated taps. The water company said the Hillhead reservoir and the wider Alston area are being investigated as a potential cause for the outbreak - an area which about 40,000 residents get their water supply from. The illness is believed to be linked to cryptosporidium, a parasitic bug that causes severe stomach issues. People who attended Brixham Pirate Festival, which happened ten days ago, may start to suffer the effects from the water they drank while visiting. Local Meg Dew said her friends have been ill since attending the event, which took place between May 4 and May 6.

Botched lip fillers and Botox have increased almost 14 percent in a year, with more than 3,000 being made in 2023 alone. Faye Winter (left), 28, a reality television actress, said she was left with 'pretty bad' lips after receiving too much filler, which has stretched and wrinkled them, prompting her to continue receiving the therapy to avoid this side effect (inset). Lisa Kelly (right), from Essex, was left with painful purple lumps across her nose and cheeks that made her insecure and obscured her vision (inset). She feared they would live forever, but they did not last months. Anyone can administer aesthetic therapy under new legislation, even though they have no experience or qualifications.
