The 49-year-old Grammy winner 'locked down a massive $15M deal' for the six-date residency, which includes a New Year's Eve concert on December 31 - according to TMZ .

Lionel Richie plans to release a tell-all memoir about his legendary nearly six-decade-long career. The as-yet-untitled book 'will be an "intimate, deeply candid memoir,' according to its publisher HarperOne. Richie, 75, is an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winning singer-songwriter and a judge on American Idol. The Endless Love singer 'seeks to inspire all who doubt themselves or feel their dreams don't matter by chronicling lessons learned in the course of his most unlikely of success stories,' a press release stated. Richie went 'from a painfully shy, tragically late bloomer grappling with ADHD to his dramatic transformation into a world-class entertainer and composer of love songs that have played like the soundtrack of our lives.' Lionel is also the father to daughters Nicole and Sofia Richie.

 Carrie Underwood has officially returned to American Idol! On Wednesday, the former winner of the show replaced Katy Perry as a judge as she joined Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest in an official photo for season 25.  Underwood, 41, is coming back 20 years after she first auditioned for the talent contest in 2005.

Lionel Richie believes Carrie Underwood will be a 'great judge' as he responded to news she would now be working on the show that catapulted to fame, American Idol.   Underwood, 41, was recently announced as the newest judge joining season 23 of the show following Katy Perry's departure earlier this year.  Speaking with E! She was let go by Fremantle, the production company behind American Idol, following this most recent run of season 22, which wrapped up on May 19.

Sofia Richie is 'about to have a nervous breakdown' before giving birth, according to her father, Lionel Richie. The 74-year-old singer - who was recently joined by his much-younger girlfriend during a gala event - revealed that as the 26-year-old's due date grows closer, she was becoming increasingly anxious about becoming a mother. Luke Bryan was blown away by Abi Carter's performance of Adele 's hit Hello on Sunday's live two-hour Adele Night episode of American Idol on ABC. Abi, 22, from Indio, California, closed out the season 22 episode in a sequined dress singing Adele's iconic hit while playing the piano. The judges gave her a standing ovation and the crowd cheered for her when she finished. 'I think you made Lionel Richie forget he wrote the original Hello,' Luke, 47, said. 'He wrote the original, she just crushed the latest. That magic zone, sometimes you found it, sometimes you haven't given it to us, you just gave that magic thing in your voice the whole performance. It was tremendous.'

Lionel Richie has revealed his friend King Charles III is 'doing fantastic' during his cancer treatment after the monarch returned to public-facing duties this week. The 74-year-old singer, who has been friends with the King since the 1980s after meeting through what was the Prince's Trust , also described Charles as 'doing well'. The King, 75, has been having treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early February, and on Tuesday he was out meeting the public with Queen Camilla as they visited University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in London . Speaking at the inaugural King's Trust Global Gala in New York last night, Richie told People : 'Happily I can say, he is doing fantastic. Again, I understand, he needs to sit still, you know what I'm saying. The most important part is he is doing well. He's back to his duties and so therefore, I wouldn't want the first thing for him to do is come over - let's not prove anything here.' Richie also joked that he was expecting a phone call from the King after the event at Cipriani South Street, saying: 'Believe me, my question [from Charles] now is, 'How was it?' After I finish tonight, I'm gonna get that call saying, 'Well, how was it?'.'

The star-studded occasion marked the first major event since The Prince's Foundation was renamed The King's Trust. The event, held in New York, was hosted by King's Trust Global Ambassadors Lionel Richie and Edward Enninful OBE. A surprise performance by John Legend is also understood to have taken place, with the singer seen posing in a white suit and bow tie. The Prince's Trust became the King's Trust in November last year, as Charles set up the foundation while he was still the Prince of Wales.
