Career

Sharp made his debut in the 1980s for the science fiction magazine 2000 AD, after a year of apprenticeship with Don Lawrence, artist on the Dutch comic Storm. Many Judge Dredd stories, the origins of Finn, ABC Warriors, and one of Tharg's Future Shocks were among his published works. He later moved to Marvel, United Kingdom, where he drew the mini-series Death's Head II. Todd McFarlane's Dark Ages began in the United States, with titles including X-Men, Hulk, Spider-Man, Venom, Man-Thing, Comics), Superman, Batman, and Spawn.

Sharp has also worked on more mature themed books for Verotik, including GOTH, Jaguar God, and Frank Frazetta's "The Death Dealer." He worked on a strip called 'Reality of the Claw,' which Stan Winston created. Later, he co-created the Wildstorm series The Possessed with writer Geoff Johns, as well as a strip for Heavy Metal magazine called "A-crazy-A" starring Playboy model Tiffany Taylor, for which he provided the art and script. In the Vaini magazine, he was also the sole author of the short story "Winter Rose."

Sharp and his partner Christina McCormack co-founded Mam Tor Publishing in 2004 to publish the artbook Sharpenings: the Art of Liam Sharp.

Sharp saw a hole in the alternative independent comic book business, and he and his wife Christina, designer Tom Muller, and friend John Bamber decided to expand the company to begin producing more work. Mam Tor: Event Horizon, a critically acclaimed and award-winning anthology, was released at this time. Art by Glenn Fabry, Brian Holguin, Ashley Wood, Simon Bisley, Alan Grant, Steve Niles, Emma Simcock-Tooth, Kev Crossley, Lee Carter, and Dave Kendall were among the exhibits on display at Event Horizon.

Sharp continued to illustrate the controversial and critically acclaimed DC Vertigo comic Testament by Douglas Rushkoff, as well as the Countdown-related title, Lord Havok and The Extremists by Frank Tieri. The Wildstorm, based on the video game Gears of War, was one of the best-selling comic of 2008 in the United States. He did not draw artwork for the biggest selling comic of 2008.

Mam Tor and the advertising company Mother produced a free sixteen page comic for which Sharp was the art director, as well as the front page for the first issue.

He signed a non-exclusive contract with DC in September 2008.

Sharp wrote the 2011 book God Killers.

Sharp is involved in Beardism, a Midland-based art movement, with some aspects of which are similar to Dadaism. The practitioners are expected to wear beards, but this can be interpreted as symbolic. Sharp, Ali Pow3rs, Adam Dutton, and Chris Tree's work was on display in the Crompton Arms, a Derby public house and alternative art gallery.

Sharp was one of 62 comics designers on the Kapow stage on Monday. Two Guinness World Records, the Fastest Production of a Comic Book, and Most Contributors to a Comic Book are among the two Guinness World Records, which were set at a London convention. With Guinness officials on hand to monitor their progress, writer Mark Millar began writing a 20-page black and white Superior comic book, with Sharp, Frank Quitely, John Romita Jr., Duncan Braithwaite, Duncan Fegredo, Duncan Fegredo, Duncan Fegredo, Duncan Fegredo, Keith McCarthy, Matthew Hartman, John McCrea, John McCrea, John McCrea, and Liam Sharp, who all appeared on stage throughout the book's The book was finished in 11 hours, 19 minutes, and 38 seconds and was released on Icon on November 23, 2011, with all royalties donated to Yorkhill Children's Foundation.

Sharp co-founded Madefire in Berkeley, CA, with Ben Wolstenholme and Eugene Walden, the company's CCO, in October 2011. Madefire has been praised as a pioneering new digital reading experience, and it is funded by True Ventures and deviantART.

The Derby Museum in 2017 held a ten-week retrospective of Liam's career, from 2000 to Wonder Woman.

Liam was recently given a wrought-Iron and mosaic star in the city's #MadeInDerby2 campaign, which can be seen outside the Standing Order pub in the cathedral quarter.
