Since he died earlier this week at the age of 85, Family Dollar founder Leon Levine is in the spotlight, this week. In 1959, Levine founded his first Family Dollar store in Charlotte, overseeing the chain's rapid expansion until he took over the business from his son in 2003 and then selling the store to Dollar Tree in 2014 at a $8.5 billion estimate.
