Strictly Come Dancing viewers have revealed they turned off the show because it was 'sickly sweet' in the wake of the programme's abuse scandals.  This weekend, the dance competition was dealt another blow last weekend as the first live episode saw ratings plummet to it's lowest ever.  Despite the series marking the beloved BBC programme's 20th anniversary, only a peak 6.7 million viewers tuned in for the episode. This is down from 7.3M for the same episode last year and 10.2M in 2020.

Strictly has reportledy been hit with yet another blow after it's first live episode of the latest series saw ratings plummet to it's lowest in the show's 20-year history.  Following last week's pre-recorded launch, The Sun reported that Saturday's episode saw a peak of 6.7M viewers, down from 7.3M for the same episode last year and 10.2M in 2020.  The show has found itself embroiled in controversy over how the professional dancers teach the celebs, with multiple accusations emerging of bullying and abusive behaviour. 

Amy Dowden left fans in tears after topping the leaderboard with her first performance alongside JB Gill on Saturday, after returning to the show following her breast cancer battle.  The dancing pro, 34, made a glorious comeback and told host Claudia Winkleman 'I'm so happy I could burst' after scoring an impressive 31 points on the dancefloor.  The fan favourite performed a moving Waltz to When I Need You by Leo Sayer, leaving both judges and fans emotional.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has said her return to the live show on Saturday will be 'beautiful for her family' after she overcame breast cancer. The dancer, 34, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023 and in what became the toughest year of her life, Amy underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, fertility treatment and was hospitalised with sepsis. However, she announced in February that she would be returning to the show this year after a mastectomy and chemotherapy left her with 'no evidence of disease' following tests.

In a private home ceremony, Leo Sayer married Donatella Piccinetti. 74-year-old singer More Than I Can Say married his girlfriend of almost 40 years in his adopted home of Australia, among their families and friends. On Monday, the former Celebrity Big Brother actor announced the good news on his Instagram page.

Former hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay were joined by original presenters Debbie Rix, weatherman Francis Wilson, and astrologer Russell Grant, who appeared on the formerly named Breakfast Time, which first appeared on January 17, 1983. They also commemorated the occasion with the return of singer Leo Sayer, who was a guest on the first episode, and an aerobic workout in London's Waterloo station led by show's original health and fitness guru Diana Moran. "As the show's day one hosts, Frank Bough and Selina Scott, were lauded," Sayer praised the show's'such stars.' It was incredible to be interviewed by Selena Scott at that time.' She was the 'Princess Diana of television,' so it was very exciting to step into the studio.' According to the presenter, the show "started a movement that extended all around the world," with celebrities now having to wake up earlier to promote their careers. Since several of the television crews complained to him about having to get up so early in the morning, Nugent joked, 'It's not new anymore, but we still do it.' Moran, nicknamed the 'Green Goddess' during her time on the breakfast menu, was a pioneer in the fitness segment. Jayne McCubbin, a BBC Breakfast presenter, joined her at Waterloo station, where they relived a moment from the first episode when commuters were shocked by getting them up to do a few aerobics.

After finding that Carols in the Domain would not air on television until next week, Channel Seven viewers have expressed rage. On Saturday night, the annual concert in Sydney went on but will not be broadcast on television until December 23. Angry supporters of the event took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the network's decision.
