Kyle Edward Kulinski (born January 31, 1988) is an American political commentator and co-founder of Justice Democrats.
He is the host and producer of The Kyle Kulinski Show, which is an affiliate of The Young Turks network.
He is a registered Democrat in New York state and a social democrat.
Early life
Kulinski was born in 1988 to a family of Polish and Italian descent. He was born and raised in the Westchester County suburbs of New York. He graduated from New Rochelle High School in 2006 and Iona College in 2010, both with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in psychology.
Kulinski cites his father's premature death due to inadequate healthcare, the 2003 invasion of Iraq in his teenage years, and Noam Chomsky's research contributed to his political views.
Personal life
In September 2022, Kulinski became engaged to fellow political commentator Krystal Ball.
Career
When studying as a political science undergraduate, Kulinski founded "Secular Talk" on YouTube in spring 2008. Kyle pointed out from the start that the show leans heavily to the left. In stark contrast to conventional news outlets' more conventional news style, he delivers the news with a "brash" and "in-your-face" tone, as well as jokes and swear words.
After being disillusioned with US President Barack Obama's first term, Kulinski began releasing videos full-time and debuting on BlogTalkRadio as The Kyle Kulinski Show. This increase in traffic increased his YouTube subscriber number to over 100,000. By 2015, Kulinski was making a living off Secular Talk. Since then, his videos have earned hundreds of thousands of views on a daily basis.
Kulinski, alongside Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks and Saikat Chakrabarti and Zack Exley of the 2016 Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, established Justice Democrats in December 2016, a political action committee with the intention of assisting progressive candidates in primary elections against Democratic members of congress. In late 2017, Uygur and Kulinski resigned from the company. Since retiring, Kulinski has voiced dissatisfaction with the Justice Democrats' political agenda and has chastised congresspeople for not withholding their votes from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in exchange for a House vote on Medicare for All.
Kulinski and Krystal Ball launched Krystal Kyle & Friends, a podcast in January 2021, where they are both co-hosts. Russell Brand, Noam Chomsky, Thomas Frank, Glenn Greenwald, Carl Hart, Matt Taibbi, Bernie Sanders, Bernie Sanders, Matthew Moore, Cornel West, Marianne Williamson, Richard D. Wolff, Valiant, and Andrew Yang were among the notable podcast guests.
