Eileen Teeton (left and right, circled), née Duffy, who dashed to her Royal Engineer husband's aid as he was stabbed outside the family home in Gillingham, Kent, joined other singers to speak to the Scottish TV star in February 2020 (right). Mrs Teeton is a member of the Brompton and Invicta Military Wives Choir, based at the Lampard Centre near the Brompton Barracks in Gillingham. It is close to where her husband, father-of-two Lt Col Mark Teeton (inset, with her), was attacked on Tuesday night. Her anguished cries as she rushed out to help her husband were captured on a neighbour's Ring doorbell camera. Witnesses say she pulled Lt Col Teeton's attacker off him and called for help - likely helping to save his life after the attack.

Avoid wrap dresses, never wear frills or floaty fabrics and pastel prints are always a no! Here's what's REALLY flattering for over-50s at weddings
www.dailymail.co.uk,
June 30, 2024
There's nothing like a Really Big Wedding for giving you good ideas, so, when the season kicked off with the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster at the start of June, everyone was keen to see what the guests were wearing. You might think that a society do attended by royalty is no place to pick up wedding dressing tips. Surely the aristocracy wear something made-to-measure with a matching hat and it's all way beyond the reach of us Normals? In fact British weddings are fairly conservative affairs, where the same conventions apply whether you're heading back to the family castle or the Dog and Duck. While some details change over the years (you won't need a hat like the one Kristin Scott Thomas wore in the classic 1994 film Four Weddings and A Funeral), a lot of rules stay the same and apply across the board. For example, it's still all about a pretty dress. At the Westminster wedding most of the female guests of all ages, were wearing dresses, including plenty of those floral prints that were supposed to have been retired. I'd say, if anything, the floral dress, spruced up, has become exactly what you want to wear to a special occasion.
The 13 style rules that every midlife woman MUST follow (and yes, beige really is banned!)
www.dailymail.co.uk,
May 19, 2024
There's nothing you can't wear on your feet for ever (though your ideal heel height may come down and, personally, I'd give Mary Janes a swerve). More to the point you can and should get maximum Wow points from your footwear whether that's a leopard-print kitten heel or a wooden-soled sandal. Ever since Prada did velvet platform sandals, several years ago, platforms and wedges have shed their glam rock image and become acceptable year-round at any age - quirky, leg lengthening and great for those occasions when you're on your feet for hours. Just keep them more on the Prada scale than Noddy from Slade.
NEVER wear top-to-toe tweed, avoid dainty jewellery and lilac is a definite NO. Here's how to borrow your Granny's style without looking frumpy

First it was our kitchens, as we succumbed to the pleasure of a prissy sink skirt. Then our sitting rooms were taken over by Liberty prints, chintz and floral tea sets. Now Granny's favourite style has moved into our wardrobes, bringing prim-and-proper occasion dressing to the everyday. But forget moth-eaten tweeds, librarian twinsets and delicate strings of pearls. This is a modern-day manifestation of dressing for dinner - and everything else besides.

Meet the most famous Scottish actor you've never heard of

Chris Reilly may be late to the spy game, but he does know a great deal about the figures who live in the margins of society. They may be alcoholics and heroin users, down-and-outs, and broken soldiers, rather than suave and sophisticated James Bond styles. They are, however, just as adept as any nefarious agent at masking dark truths and concocing effective cover stories to shield their frailties from prying eyes. Reilly should know that he grew up surrounded by them.
This is one cold war that Slow Horses spy chief Kristin Scott Thomas is determined to win as she is seen braving the elements to complete some last-minute Christmas shopping
www.dailymail.co.uk,
December 24, 2023
Here's a spy who hasn't come in from the cold. Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, who has received critical esteem for her appearance as a hard-bitten MI5 No. 2 in Apple's Slow Horses, wore hat, scarf, and thick woolly jacket over her chunky winter jacket last week to finish last-minute Christmas shopping. Her gifts will be well wrapped up too, by the looks of it, as she was pictured with an armful of festive paper. The 63-year-old actress was buying supplies with her partner, journalist John Micklethwait, 61, with whom she created the new film North Star.
Slow Horses: According to CHRISTOPHER STEVENS, the all-action spies who make the next 007 must be a female

Jane Bond, Jemima, or even Janine, so the next actress to play Agent 007 will have to be female. If we leave it to men, the world is doomed. According to A-list espionage drama-comedy Slow Horses, male spies are losers (Apple TV+). You can barely trust them to cross the road, never mind a double-cross. But every woman is meant to be Bond - lightning reactions, ruthless wit, and a ferocious sex drive are among the reasons. Kristin Scott Thomas, MI5's chief, spits up one hapless male underling: "I want you to keep walking until you get to the sea, and if you get there, keep walking with your mouth open."
NOTEBOOK BY ALEXANDRA SHULMAN: Why it's so difficult to compel us proxy grans to obey
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 29, 2023
NOTEBOOK OF ALEXANDRA SHULMAN: My fourth proxy grandchild arrived last week. Proxy because none of the four children's parents are a child of mine, but not necessarily my ex-husband or my current partner. So while I am ecstatic over this new baby (a gorgeous little girl), it also feels like cheating to give the congratulations of others on'my' grandchild.' I am not really a grandparent because I am not really one. Modern maternity units, it appears, refuse to admit grandparents from the hospital, so the line to see the as-yet-unidentified newborn at the time she returned home was long. As much as I wanted to get a first glance, I felt as if I was depriving someone's - a blood connection - more valuable.
Lily James stuns in an off-the-shoulder gown as she joins Lyonesse co-star Kristin Scott Thomas after press night performance

After the press night performance of the play, Lily James stunned as she joined Lyonesse co-star Kristin Scott Thomas at Browns in Covent Garden, London. When smiling alongside Kristin, 63, as they celebrated the event, the Pam & Tommy actress, 34, looked radiant in a pale green off-the-shoulder gown. She boosted her height with a pair of black stiletto heels and pulled her hair back into a neat updo to complete her look.
Review of Lyonesse: The Ab Fab scene in Cornwall is a hit at the cinema, with Lily James and Kristin Scott Thomas playing up the lead, writes PATRICK MARMION
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 25, 2023
PATRICK MARMION (left) and Kristin Scott Thomas (right): Penelope Skinner's latest play, which opened in the West End last night, is almost sold out already. No surprise there. After all, Lily is the Queen Of The Bodice Ripper, bursting onto our screens as Lady Rose in Downton Abbey before being cast in War & Peace and playing Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy. Kristin is of course the legendary Ice Queen, with posh and frosty characters ranging from Fiona in Four Weddings And A Funeral to MI5 boss 'Lady Di' in Slow Horses on Apple TV+. However, although both actresses sprinkled stardust liberally throughout Skinner's play, I found the piece itself a curiously labored and lacklustre affair.
Insiders reveal the food King Charles has BANNED from French state visit banquet - and the reasons why (but mushrooms are on the menu because they remind him of Queen Elizabeth II)

Yannick Alléno, Anne-Sophie Pic (bottom right) and Pierre Hermé, Michelin-starred kitchen masters, have finalized a menu that was sent to London for review. All the dishes will be served in Versailles' fabled Hall of Mirrors, where the late Queen was welcomed during her first State Visit to France in 1957. Donna Ferguson, the judge of BBC reality TV show All That Glitters: Donna Ferguson reveals that to survive as an entrepreneur, she has had to sell everything from her grandmother's jewelry to her penthouse apartment. With her company flourishing, she sells jewelry for up to £100,000 and claims that her company is worth millions of pounds.
How to Beat the Bugs of Summer

They're tiny, rarely seen, and if you're one of the 20% of the British population that find particularly appealing, mosquitoes can ruin your summer. Scientists say it's simply luck that you get more bitten than others. The way we react to bites is also dependent on how our immune system reacts to the protein that triggers mozzies release. So how best to prevent bites? Here's a look at what happened when Claudia Connell turned herself into human bait in order to try out various repellents, gizmos, and gadgets...

She paired the sheer pleated dress with black heels and a sparkly red flower necklace, matching stud earrings, and a bracelet. On Season 6 of "Out of Respect" For Queen Elizabeth II, "The Crown" is suspended
www.popsugar.co.uk,
September 9, 2022
The cast and crew of "The Crown" are taking a moment to mourn Queen Elizabeth II's death. According to writer Peter Morgan, the royal, who died on Sept. 8, will suspend production on its sixth season indefinitely. "The Crown" is a love letter to her, and I have little to add for now," he wrote. "I hope we will stop filming out of respect," says the filmmaker.
Stephen Daldry, who supervised four episodes of "The Crown," told the journal that if the queen dies while the Netflix series was in production, it would halt filming for a respectable length of time. "No one of us knows when the time will come," he said in 2016. "It'd be a simple tribute and a mark of honor." She's a global celebrity, and that's what we should do. . . She's an extraordinary woman, and no one will be upset." When the sixth season of Netflix has been announced, it has not yet announced when it will be released. POPSUGAR reached out to Netflix for feedback, but did not receive a response right away.

RICHARD KAY: Author Nicholas Evans' Horse Whisperer seduced the world

RICHARD KAY: It was a tale with unending tension for a master storyteller. The Horse Whisperer, Nicholas Evans' (right) 1995 debut book, has sold 15 million copies. It was turned into a film directed, produced, and starring Robert Redford (centre), as well as Kristen Scott Thomas (top left image, right) and a young Scarlett Johansson (bottom left). A visitor selects some wild mushrooms and brings them home to fry them in butter and parsley for the family's supper while rambling over the Scottish estate of his wife's brother and sister-in-law. All four of the diners are critically ill and racing by ambulance to hospital a day later. Their dinner-table mushrooms were not edible at all, but their bodies were already ravaged by poisonous toxins. The man who mistakenly poisoned his family is aware that each couple's will have the other child's custody in the case of death hovers between life and death with acute renal disease. He calls his solicitor, afraid that all their children will be orphanaged soon, and a new will will be sent to his bedside.
