Krishnan Sasikiran (born 7 January 1981) is an Indian chess grandmaster. In the World Chess Championship 2013, he was one of Viswanathan Anand's seconds.

Sasikiran completed his studies at Nanganallur's Modern Senior Secondary School.

Chess career
Sasikiran, a native of Madras, won the Indian Chess Championship for the first time in 1999 and then won it again in 2002, 2003, and 2013. In 1999, he also won the Asian Junior Chess Championship in Ván Tàu, Vietnam. At the 2000 Commonwealth Championships, Sasikiran fulfilled the requirements for the Grandmaster title. He won the prestigious Hastings International Chess tournament in 2001. He won the 4th Asian Individual Championship and the Politiken Cup in Copenhagen in 2003. In the 2005 Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament, Sasikiran tied for first place with Jan Timman, which took place in Malmö and Copenhagen.
With Baadur Jobava, Victor Bologan, and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov finishing third on tiebreak scores in 2006, he tied for first place at the Aeroflot Open in Moscow. Sasikiran gained a gold medal in the 2006 Asian Games' team competition, which took place later this year. As a token of his contribution, the Tamil Nadu government issued a cheque worth Rs 20 Lakhs. In 2002, he was also honoured with the Arjuna Award. Sasikiran was ranked 21 in the world on the 2007 FIDE rating list, with an Elo rating of 2700. He was India's second chess player to achieve Elo ratings of 2700.
He won the City of Pamplona international chess tournament, a category 16 event with average Elo over 2640, by a single point margin, with a rating of 2795. He finished in 2009, tied for 2nd-3rd with Étienne Bacrot in Antwerp.
Sasikiran won the Asian Blitz Chess Championship in Mashhad on tiebreak over Wesley So and Bu Xiangzhi, who finished on 7/9 points. In October of the same year, he finished first in the open section of the 15th Corsican Circuit. He reached the semi-finals of the Corsica Masters, knocking out a fast tournament to eventual winner Anand.
He earned 7.5/10 points on board three to help the Indian team win the bronze medal at the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Troms. On board three, Sasikiran also received the individual silver medal.
