Prince Andrew had it all at one time. He was not just the Queen's favorite son; he was a naval officer and decorated war hero whose dashing appearances made him the 'Playboy Prince,' one of Britain's most eligible men. However, the Duke of York has been better known for one of the most unusual falls from grace ever experienced by a Royal Family member. He is 64 today. However, it is not clear how much money will be spent at Royal Lodge, his grand home in Windsor Great Park, will be celebrated.

A vibrant posse of men and women enjoyed a never-ending parade of black-tie parties, Oxbridge balls, and debutantes' dances, dubbed "Bright Young Things." Dafydd Jones, a Tatler magazine photographer, had unique access to capture their revelry in the 1980s. His photographs have been collected for a book called England: The Last Hurrah, which has been published for four decades.
The Windsor spares who are more alike than they'd admit

Prince Andrew was once a favorite with his rascally young nephew Prince Harry, but it's impossible to imagine now. No longer exist. About the only thing that unites them these days is their status as royal outcasts, although for very different reasons. The breadth of the public's disapproval of its two errant'spares' to the throne was revealed by the Mail yesterday. Only 22% of those interviewed by former Conservative deputy chairman Lord Ashcroft supported a 'favourable' view of Harry, while only seven percent favored Andrew. According to the survey, the two princes were ranked among the three least popular royals (the Duchess of Sussex received an 18 percent rating).
Clarifications and corrections have been made

The headline on November 21, 2019 issue was headlined "Embarrassing stunts." Shocking decisions were made. And, of course, there are some shady people around. Images proving that Andrew has always been a "Duke of Hazard" included photographs of Prince Andrew and Koo Stark alongside the caption "The Prince and the porn actor." We accept that Ms Stark is not a'shady' porn actress and has never been involved in any pornographic venture, nor is it likely that a friendship with her would be a'shocking misjudgement.' In fact, she was a professional actress on film, television, and on stage. We apologise to Ms Stark for the agony she caused and have agreed to compensate her for her substantial loss and legal fees.
Historian DOMINIC SANDBROOK looks back at an embarrassing Royal TV moment

DOMINIC SANDBROOK: The Grand Knockout Tournament, also known as It's A Royal Knockout, was the brainchild of Elizabeth's youngest son Edward, who had walked out of the Royal Marines and fancy himself as a dramatic impresario. In a series of bizarre games, it pitted four teams of celebrities, including John Travolta, George Lazenby, Toyah Willcox, Gary Lineker, and Barbara Windsor, against each other at Alton Towers in June 1987. Prince Edward, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and his new wife, the brash Sarah Ferguson, were among the team's captains (bottom right). It was, of course, a disaster. Never in living memory has the monarchy threatened to make itself look silly, and when Edward stormed off in a huff at the end, unable to announce his excitement for the occasion, it only contributed to the sense of chaos and shame. Elizabeth herself must have been terrified. Could her own father, George VI, ever have imagined that one day the nation would be watching his grandchildren cheering on Travolta chasing Cliff Richard, who was dressed as a leek?
