Canadian Grand Prix 2024: As Formula 1 rolls into Montreal, here's why you can't miss the forgotten North America race

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 8, 2024
BEN NAGLE IN MONTREAL: In the pecking order of North America's Formula 1 calendar, it's fair to say Canada has become the oft-forgotten little brother of the glitzy USA races. In this era of the sport's American ownership, much of the focus has been on the new arrivals - the celebrities of Miami and the madness of Las Vegas under the lights, coupled with the more traditional racing of Austin, Texas and the return - in 2015 - to Mexico City. In Montreal, though, Formula 1 has a long-standing home on Notre Dame Island - the 2.7-mile Circuit Gilles Villeneuve - and such is its brilliance, it would be a mistake to rank it any lower than its rivals south of the border. In fact, a strong case could be made that this is the best race the sport has to offer this side of the Atlantic.

You need reactions from the highest speed, nerves of steel, and an almost unmatched ability to withstand G-Force to make it to Formula 1. These are skills that do not come naturally to the everyday human being but are developed over years and years of experience. The current Formula 1 grid will have begun their work towards joining the sport's top level when they started out in go-karts, can you recognise these stars from their karting days?

From being snubbed by Pep to Terry Crews flexing his pecs, to Kimi Raikkonen's apprehension of Pele's presentation because he was "having a s**t": Martin Brundle's best grid walk interviews

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 28, 2023
Although you may think that being a resident broadcaster with a camera crew in tow would guarantee Brundle unfettered admission to visitors, not everyone seems to get the memo. Brundle's ten of the most popular and infamous grid walks in recent years, from the awkward to the downright ridiculous, have been featured in this series.

Next year, perhaps Ferrari will be the beneficiary, but we've been waiting for this since 2008. They are like a broken record and the same mistakes are being made

POLE POINT: In Italian, there is a term that refers to Ferrari. L'anno prossimo è vince l'anno prossimo, anche quest'anno anno sivince. According to my weary spy in the Scuderia camp, "the winning year is always the next one," an expression of perpetual hope in the face of continuing disappointment.

In a snub to Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso names Michael Schumacher as his top F1 rival

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2023
In 2005 and 2006, the 41-year-old battled Schumacher for the world championship, winning both titles against the seven-time world champions Ferrari. During their shared time at McLaren, Alonso, who has run more races than anyone in F1 history, has battled many top riders, including Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, and Hamilton, but one of his earliest opponents has been named as his toughest. 'It's difficult to choose one because they were all great rivals and also good drivers,' he told Bang & Olufsen. Michael Schumacher was dominating the races and everything, so it's likely that the one I'd choose would still be the one I'd choose.'

Vasseur, the current Ferrari team's manager, Leclerc and Sainz have an equal chance at winning the F1 world championship

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 27, 2023
Fred Vasseur, the team's most unlikely candidate to be given the asylum, Ferrari, insisted that he did not recruit Charles Leclerc as the team's No. 1 driver, although he said 'everything is in place to win.' In a often light-hearted press conference, the Frenchman's first in English since taking over earlier this month, he promised Carlos Sainz an equal opportunity to win Ferrari's first world drivers' championship after Kimi Raikkonen defeated Lewis Hamilton to the trophy 16 years ago. Vasseur, 54, said, "The highest priority is to win for Ferrari." 'No1 and No2 will be available, but I would take action at one stage of the season (to favour one driver over another) if I had to take action at one point in time.' It doesn't matter which one it is.'

Max Verstappen's home win at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday was another spectacular twist in the F1 season. After yet another strong showing, the Red Bull driver won his fourth victory in a row, but that wasn't the only big talking point from the weekend. Sportmail looks at all the best bits from a brave pigeon standing amidst the screaming cars to Sebastian Vettel's heart-warming meeting with Ukrainian refugees before the race.

Moment driver stuns motorists and police by taking a Ferrari grand prix car for a highway joyride

When police were trying to find the driver's identity, a GP2 vehicle was caught speeding down a motorway in the Czech Republic. A similar occurrence happened in 2019 with cops discovering the car's owner, but police were unable to press charges due to the driver's wearing a helmet that obscured his identity.
