The defender picked up a hamstring issue during his side's 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Wednesday, with the severity unknown despite the Scot being stretchered off during the game. He went down after competing for the ball with Dan Ndoye, and the 27-year-old's tournament is tournament is almost certainly over, with his recovery period now set to be decided by his club back in the Premier League ahead of next season.

KENNY McLEAN insists Scotland plan to secure a place in the last 16 of Euro 2024 for devastated team-mate Kieran Tierney. The Arsenal defender became the latest addition to Steve Clarke's lengthy list of casualties when he was stretchered off during last night's 1-1 draw with Switzerland with what appeared to be a serious hamstring injury. Lewis Ferguson, Aaron Hickey, Nathan Patterson, Lyndon Dykes, Ben Doak and Jacob Brown were ruled out of Steve Clarke's squad before the flight to Germany.

The Arsenal defender suffered what looked like a serious leg blow as he competed for the ball with Dan Ndoye in the second half of the Euro 2024 clash. Scotland's medics rushed on to treat Tierney and he was taken off with the game finely poised at 1-1.

The team they urged on were confronted by opponents who threatened them and just briefly, looked like they might bury them, but Scotland were lifted to another level. They took the point which means a win against Hungary in Stuttgart on Sunday could take them to the knock-out stages of a tournament for the first time. You would not say it was a European sophistication from Scotland. Just direct, vertical, muscular highly effective football. And it worked. Amid the cacophony of noise, they struck a post and could walk away in the knowledge that that were the better side.

The first round of group stage matches came to a thrilling end on Tuesday night as Portugal recovered from a goal down to beat Czechia in the Leipzig rain. Hours earlier, fans had been treated to arguably the game of the tournament between Georgia and Turkey at an even more raucous and wet Westfalenstadion. Euro 2024 began with the largest-ever opening game win, as Germany thumped Scotland 5-1. It's fair to say the tournament has been a roaring success in its first few days.

Kieren Tierney, Arsenal's defender, sustained a hamstring injury during Real Sociedad's 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Friday. Following falling out of Mikel Arteta's pecking order last season, the Scotland international decided against leaving the Emirates Stadium and joining Soceidad on loan until the end of the season.

After struggling for game time at the Emirates Stadium last term, the Scotland international completed a season-long loan move to the Basque outfit on Monday. Tierney was limited to just six Premier League starts in the 2022-23 season after Oleksandr Zinchenko's arrival in north London last summer. For the first three league games of the season, the 26-year-old was not in the Arsenal squad, and Mikel Arteta has allowed the full-back to relocate to LaLiga for a temporary move.

Kieran Tierney, Arsenal's right back, has completed a season-long loan move to Real Sociedad in Spain. When he closed on a move, the 26-year-old had not been in the Gunners' first three Premier League matches of the season. Since signing in 2019, Tierney has played 124 games for the club, but he has suffered from injuries during his time with the club.
