He has owned "Peanut" and has a horse named "Prince" that he rides on his grandmother's ranch in Texas. Baking, baking, baking, spending time with his family, and horseback riding are among the duties. He also enjoys singing, playing guitar, and songwriting. Duty played guitar and performed in the band KGMC Gigmasters with Braeden Lemasters and fellow Lost co-star Dylan Minnette before beginning to work on the TV series Shake It Up! Duty, who had no dance experience prior to his role on Shake It Up, began taking private lessons in his free time to improve his dance skills.

"Look, everyone in the eyes" is the right word to say.

Career
Duty began his acting career in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 9, performing "Young Scrooge" in the Dallas Theater Center's musical stage production of A Christmas Carol. He appeared on-stage for the Denton Community Theatre production of Ragtime the following year. Duty began auditioning in Los Angeles after being discovered at a showcase performance by Hollywood talent agent Cindy Osbrink, who invited him to visit California to audition for pilot season. He has appeared in numerous national commercials for McDonald's, Wal-Mart, Pizza Hut, and Mattel.
Duty appeared in comedy sketches on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2007, after several appearances in comedies, he was first recognized as Michael in the Lifetime television film Christmas in Paradise. He appeared on Cold Case and The Jay Leno Show as a guest star on several television series Ctrl, as well as a co-starring role in the popular web series Ctrl.

He was simply branded "Teenage Boy" from the outset.
Duty received a co-starring role on the Disney Channel original series Shake It Up in the fall of 2010. Gunther Hessenheffer, the flamboyant dancer/fashion designer, appears alongside Caroline Sunshine as his twin sister, Tinka. Ryan and Sharpay Evans of Disney's High School Musical franchise are said to have inspired Gunther and Tinka's glitzy brother/sister pair. Although reviewing some of the show's formulaic elements, People Magazine writer Tom Gliatto expressed admiration for the comedic twosome's contributions to the series, saying: "Shake It Up doesn't shake up the kidcom formula, but it has something more than the usual shiny-sparkly cuteness..." Caroline Sunshine and Kenton Duty, as an overbearing brother-and-sister act from overseas, Tinka and Gunther, had the best shows. They're like the Sharpay split in two and speaking in an uncomparable accent."
Duty will no longer be a regular on Shake It Up on June 4, 2012, but it could return in a recurring role much like co-star Caroline Sunshine during the first season, but it did not return at all. Duty began filming on Contest, Silver Bells, and the short, Murphy shortly after he was fired from Shake It Up.
Duty, who served with Invasion for a brief period, moved on to create his solo album career. In May 2013, he released "Teenage Summer Nights" lyric video for his first album.
