Fake Or Fortune review: Vintage guitar would fetch a fortune, if only the Stones could remember it, writes CHRISTOPEHER STEVENS
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 10, 2024
CHRISTOPHER STEPHENS: What price Satisfaction? Somewhere in the vaults of a Swiss collector there's a Les Paul electric guitar purchased by Keith Richards in 1964 and played on the Stones' No. 1 hit. Estimates put the instrument's value at $1million minimum, though no one's sure how Keef came to part with the guitar, and the band's management say they'd like it back, please. Figures like that suggest the sheet-metal guitar investigated on Fake Or Fortune, rumoured to have belonged to Stones bandmate Ronnie Wood , could be worth more than even presenters Philip Mould and Fiona Bruce (seen on Thursday's episode with Chesney Hawkes) suspected.
Redlands review: Stones drugs bust saga is a GAS, GAS, GAS, writes PATRICK MARMION
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 4, 2024
You might expect a play about Mick Jagger and Keith Richards getting fitted up by the News Of The World in a 1960s drugs bust to centre on the Stones's front man and famously mind-expanded lead guitarist. And yet, you'd be wrong. It isn't even clear that Charlotte Jones's rowdy and entertaining new play, Redlands, is about the man who (eventually) got the rockers acquitted - one Michael Havers QC, later Attorney General. A major role for that other star of the Swinging Sixties, Marianne Faithfull, is less surprising.
The new Primrose Hill set: From Moss to Law and Richards... the famous names are out to party. But this time it's the children!
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 13, 2024
One chain has achieved the next best thing by signing up the children of the notorious Nineties north London party group to promote its latest collection. The group of ' nepo babies ' - as such offspring of famous people are now known - included Kate Moss's model daughter Lila; Liam Gallagher's son Lennon and his cousin Anais Gallagher, daughter of Noel; Jude Law's children Rafferty and Iris Law; Keith Richards 's granddaughter Ella; and Clash guitarist Mick Jones's daughters Ava and Stella. And they proved to be just as raucous and glamorous as their parents as they partied into the early hours in the VIP section of a gig by Charli XCX in east London which started at 10.30pm on Thursday.
Redlands FIRST LOOK: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Marianne Faithfull are reimagined as actors transform into rockers for new play about The Rolling Stones' infamous drug trial

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Marianne Faithfull have been reimagined for a riotous new play about the infamous 1967 drugs trial of The Rolling Stones. Chichester Festival Theatre released first-look photos of Redlands - with Jasper Talbot, Brenock O'Connor and Emer McDaid taking on the legendary rockers. And if the pictures are anything to go by, the trio look like they are going to throw everything into fully embodying their characters as the story of the English rock band and their court case makes it way to the stage.
I toured the world with Noel and Liam Gallagher at the peak of their chaotic brilliance - but NOT everyone was impressed: Oasis insider reveals the Hollywood A-lister that snubbed the Britpop kings
www.dailymail.co.uk,

Some musicians make great critics, writes PAOLO HEWITT. It is said that when Noel Gallagher met Keith Richards for the first time, the veteran Rolling Stone guitarist said, 'Ah, you're from Oasis. That was interesting… for a while.' Bitchy and brilliant, Richards had hit the nail on the head. Between 1994 and 1996, Oasis were the most exciting, the most talented, the most chaotic, and, yes, indeed, the most interesting band in the world. The twin engines that had catapulted them into the nation's consciousness were Noel's ability to craft highly memorable songs and his brother Liam's ability to sing them in a unique and powerful way.

Letters from teenage girls asking to 'snog' and 'bed' the Rolling Stones go up for auction after suitcase was found in attic of Brian Jones' old house
www.dailymail.co.uk,
July 3, 2024
Wild letters from teenage girls wanting to 'snog' and 'bed' the Rolling Stones have been found in an old suitace that belonged to Brian Jones and gone up for auction. Multi-instrumentalist Jones kept the 3,000 handwritten letters that were sent to him from crazed fans from across the world in 1964. At the time the youthful band had already had two number ones and were at the forefront of the 'British Invasion' of rock and pop in America. Jones was a founding member of the Stones alongside Keith Richards and Mick Jagger in 1962, but was dismissed in June 1969 after he developed alcohol and drug problems. Less than a month later, he died by drowning in a swimming pool in his East Sussex home. The battered travel trunk was found in the attic of another Jones property in Woodley, near Reading, and was full to the brim with the fan mail. Some of the correspondence was polite and reserved, with one girl informing the guitarist she had 'dropped the Beatles ' for the Stones because their hair wasn't long enough. But a lot of the letters were sent from lustful teenagers expressing their carnal desires for the band.

BRYONY GORDON: Just because you do pilates in Sweaty Betty doesn't mean you're not an alcoholic
www.dailymail.co.uk,
June 27, 2024
When I was 37, and the mother of an adorable four year old whose life revolved around Peppa Pig, pesto pasta and soft play, a psychologist told me I had ' alcohol use disorder'. I liked the sound of this, because it seemed medical and treatable and not my fault, like some sort of virus I had picked up by accident. Most of all, I liked the term because it didn't sound as shameful as the word 'alcoholic'. In contrast, 'alcohol use disorder' was a diagnosis I could get behind. With a couple of weeks off the grog, and a few intensive therapy sessions thrown in for good measure, I would almost certainly become the kind of person who could have just one glass of red wine with dinner. Or maybe two. Instead of three or four or 15 and actually, forget about dinner, I'd rather just crack on and open another bottle.
EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Street Fighting Man Mick Jagger is new frontman of group campaigning against £100million tower block development set to loom over south west London with 34 storeys of flats
www.dailymail.co.uk,
June 11, 2024
Sir Mick Jagger has signed up as a new frontman for a group of campaigners fighting against proposals for One Battersea Bridge, a 34-storey tower block of flats in south-west London. The £100 million tower will not only loom over Battersea, it will cloud the river view from Chelsea, not least for the well-heeled folk on the opposite, north bank only a few hundred yards away. Jagger has a strong affiliation with Chelsea and even lived in a flat in nearby Edith Grove with Keith Richards and Brian Jones during the earliest days of the Rolling Stones .

Extraordinary night Keith Richards told me: 'Listen 'ere sonny boy, I run the Rolling Stones, not that f****** p**f Mick Jagger!' Read a gripping account of the rock band's civil war by PR guru to the stars ALAN EDWARDS

The music PR industry has morphed from a small, relatively niche affair to the vast, multi-billion pound phenomenon it is today.
And throughout it all, I was there. Five decades later, I still am. In the autumn of 1981 I had a phone call. ''Allo. This is 'Arvey,' growled the voice at the other end. 'Would you be interested in taking on the PR for The Stones?' There was only one 'Arvey: Harvey Goldsmith, the legendary promoter who practically invented stadium rock in the UK. And definitely only one Stones. I was by then running my own agency Modern Publicity - Keith had been incredibly supportive as I'd set up a business promoting punk bands, the up-and-coming artists of the era whose music I loved. The Stones didn't really fit into my vision at all. But my answer, obviously, was 'Yes'.

Keith Richards left Anita Pallenberg feeling 'betrayed' when he killed off her acting career after she cheated on him with Mick Jagger. The Rolling Stones guitarist became so 'possessive' he offered Pallenberg money not to act when she became pregnant with their first son Marlon. Friends told a documentary that Richards 'resented' Pallenberg being away from him - but he left to be with the Stones when Marlon was just three months old.

The Oscar winner, 49, and the Italian model, 25, were watching the Nevada leg of the English rock band's Hackney Diamonds Tour. Unmoved by the warbles of the Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, and Keith Richards, Vittoria turned her attention to Leonardo and approaches him for a kiss. An incredulous Leo laughed at Vittoria's efforts and kept his eyes on the concert, held at Allegiant Stadium, and kept his arms folded. Before long, however, her gave in: puckering up to meet Vittoria half way, his face partly concealed by his trusty black baseball cap.

According to ALISON BOSHOFF, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards' holding firm receives more than £140 million when it only pays 1%
www.dailymail.co.uk,
April 4, 2024
ALISON BOSHOFF: They're the Glimmer Twins - but perhaps Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards should be boosted to solid gold. For the record, The Rolling Stones company earned at least $180 million (£142 million) over nine years, but paid tax amounts to less than 1% of the total. According to statistics published by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, Promogroup BV, the Stones' holding company, has been quietly reaping millions since 2013. The directors' most recent reports, released in March this year, state that there were'receivables' in the year from January to December 2021, totaling $25 million (£20 million). They paid tax on a $213,000 (£168,000) basis during that time. They paid $75,000 (£60,000) in taxes in the previous year, but the royalties, which were then counted as assets, were later reported as liabilities of $33 million (£26 million).
