Kim Potter, 50, was released from Shakopee's Minnesota Correctional Facility in the early hours of Monday and has been sentenced to eight months on probation. It comes three years after Daunte, a 20-year-old black man, was mistakenly shot and killed during a traffic stop on April 11, 2020. She was found guilty of fist and second degree murder in addition to fist. The victim's relatives slammed the decision to free her, arguing that she has left the family's 'cursed forever'. In the meantime, the former cop was seen looking thin and frail in a recently released mugshot, with black hair in stark contrast to her smiling photo from 2021.
