Juan Croucier Career

Career

Croucier attended Torrance High School in Torrance, California, where he performed in various bands. He began performing original songs in his bands and formed Spike, a youth group that was solely playing originals by age 16. He formed FireFoxx, along with Ron Abrams on guitar and Bobby Blotzer on drums in 1977. Croucier was a bassist for Ratt in the 1980s and was also briefly in Quiet Riot and DuBrow. Croucier was playing for Quiet Riot immediately before Randy Rhoads left to play with Ozzy Osbourne and also with DuBrow in 1981, but did not have a record with either. Kevin DuBrow, the band's leader, was introduced by DuBrow to Frankie Banali before he left DuBrow. They went on to create a new version of Quiet Riot, resulting in the debut of Metal Health.

Croucier was with Dokken for about four years and also toured Germany with the band several times. Before leaving Dokken, he was a member of both Ratt and Dokken for almost 18 months. He appeared and performed backup on Dokken's Breaking the Chains album and co-wrote two songs. Jeff Pilson, the album's replacement, appears in the album's title track video.

With Ratt, Croucier wrote several of the band's best hits, including "Lack of Communication" and "You're in Love." Ratt's backing vocals soon became a signature feature of his music.

Croucier went on to own and run The Cellar, a recording studio in Los Angeles where he recorded, produced, and engineered hundreds of albums for various bands and solo artists.

In 1997, Croucier formed Liquid, a tribute to his solo album of the same name. On the album, Croucier performs and also plays bass and guitar. Ricks brother Rick also plays drums on the album. Liquid spent Sunday on a bill for one show with Pearcy in the summer of 2006 and formed Dirty Rats, which included Croucier on bass and lead vocals, Carlos Cavazo on guitar, and John Medina on drums.

Croucier reunited with Ratt and appeared with the band at the M3 Rock Festival for the first time since 1991.
