Every day is a school day. Some are better than others. The Victory Shield was settled early doors, as they do not say in the corridors of academe. The Republic of Ireland won it by beating Northern Ireland in the first match of the day at Broadwood. Every player and coach has been offered lessons all week, however.

Handwritten letters and cards from Diana, Princess of Wales , have revealed the sweet relationship between Prince William and Harry when they were growing up. The letters, addressed to Diana's parents' housekeeper Violet Collison (affectionately known as Collie by the princess), are to be sold at auction in Essex. Violet Collison, affectionately known as 'Collie', worked for John Spencer and Frances Roche at Park House on the Sandringham Estate and witnessed the future Princess of Wales ' birth. Sweet handwritten thank-you notes and a decade of correspondence - which is being auctioned off next week - offer a glimpse into their friendship, including the late royal's feelings ahead of her wedding. Collie was a significant figure in Diana's formative years and remained a close confidante even after she retired - even sending gifts to the young Princes William and Harry. Six-time world snooker champion Ray Reardon has died at the age of 91. Welshman Reardon, who dominated the sport in the 1970s, died on Friday night, his wife Carol confirmed to the World Snooker Tour. Lady Diana Spencer, aged 20, married Prince Charles, then 32, at St Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1981, in an extravagant ceremony with 3,500 guests in attendance. Hailed the ' wedding of the century', a record-breaking 750 million people in 74 countries across the globe tuned in to watch the event on television. Princess Diana's countryside boarding school has gone up for auction for £3 million. Riddlesworth Hall, a former prep school in Norfolk, first opened as an independent girl's school in 1946, but it was forced to shut down in April due to 'unprecedented financial difficulties.' After her mother, Frances Roche, left her father, John Spencer, for wallpaper billionaire Peter Shand-Kydd, the teen princess was sent to the Norfolk boarding school at the age of nine. Now, the Grade II listed country estate in which the school was previously located, which has a swimming pool, playing fields, and tennis courts on its grounds, is up for auction for £3 million. Princess Diana was sent to the prep school in 1970, three years after her parents separated, and she stayed at Riddlesworth Hall, which lies between Thetford and Diss in Norfolk, between the ages of nine and twelve.

A farmer's son who said he was promised the family's farm by his father is suing his siblings in an attempt to recover the entire £5 million estate for himself. Michael Spencer, 62, (left) and Penelope Spencer, 63, are locked in a court fight over allegations that he is entitled to the 405-acre Lincolnshire estate after being forced to work it for as little as £30-a-week from a young age. Michael is now trying to prohibit his older sisters from claiming their share of the family property that his father John established as a trust before he died. His two children insist that their father did not intend the property to go solely to Michael, who had already received £2.2 million in inheritance, but that the entire family should prosper.

He'd been Mentioned in Despatches for his service as a tank commander in the Normandy invasion four years ago. 'Photograph taken outside @AlthorpHouse - which had a lot more ivy back then,' said Charles, Princess Diana's brother.

On Twitter, Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, posted a snap of official ER cufflinks, saying, 'Wearing these at Windsor today, with tremendous sadness and pride.' The snap displayed two gold royal presentation cufflinks that would have been sent to a courtier or a high figure from H.M.Queen Elizabeth II, most likely his father John, who was the Queen's equerry.

On a tour of Australia in 1954, Princess Diana Spencer (right with the Queen in 2004) has paid a loving tribute to the Queen by posting a snapshot of his father John Spencer in a Land Rover with Her Majesty and Prince Philip. The 9th Earl Spencer, Charles, posted the image on Instagram as part of a series of tributes to the Queen, who died on Thursday at the age of 96.
