After nearly a month in the hospital after suffering a traumatic brain inquiry as a result of a 300 miles-per-hour fiery crash, racing legend John Force has been released. The brain injury occurred during a crash in the first round of Funny Car eliminations at the Virginia Nationals in June. Force's car had massive engine failure when crossing the finish line, causing his car to go across the center line and slam into the concrete guard before also hitting a wall.

NHRA drag racing great John Force has been moved out of neurological intensive care after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a fiery, 300-mph crash at the Virginia Nationals last month. The 75-year-old Force has been moved from neurological intensive care into acute neuro care at the hospital where he was transported by air ambulance on June 23, John Force Racing said Friday in a release. Force suffered a traumatic brain injury and other injuries, including a fractured sternum, in the crash during the first round of Funny Car eliminations.

John Force is showing 'daily signs of improvement' and has opened his eyes for the first time after his shocking 300mph crash last week. A statement from John Force Racing on Sunday said: 'Following days of failed attempts, his wife and daughters were overcome with emotion when he murmured his name, 'John Force,' and later when prompted, gave a thumbs up.' The statement also said that Force, 75, has been able to tell his family that he loves them.
