John Andretti Life

John Andrew Andretti (born March 12, 1963) is a race car racer in the United States.

He is the older brother of racer Adam Andretti, nephew of Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti, and first cousin to IndyCar champion Michael and Jeff Andretti.

He is also the first cousin to IndyCar driver Marco Andretti who was once moved to IndyCar.

After being nearly killed in a crash, Aldo Andretti, Mario's twin brother, stopped operating a race car.

He has won in CART, IMSA GTP, Rolex Sports Car Series, and NASCAR.

Early life

John Andretti was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on March 12, 1963, to "Corky" and Aldo Andretti. He was not meant to be a member of the famous Andretti racing family. He began working with karts and USAC midgets at a young age.

Andretti earned a degree in business administration and later admitted that if he had not started racing, he would have been an investment banker or stock broker. In 1984, he first rode real sports cars. Andretti spent a complete IMSA GTP season with BMW North America in 1986. He spent his first year at Watkins Glen, partnered with Davy Jones.

Personal life, illness and death

Andretti was a fixture in the Central Indiana neighborhood. During the Brickyard 400 Week, he competed with 93.1 WIBC, Dave "The King" Wilson, and General Mills to keep the Race for Riley, benefiting James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children.

Andretti appeared on Sirius Satellite Radio's The Driver's Seat with John Kernan from 2007 to 1990.

Jaett, Andretti's son, became a racer and then a pilot in the GT4 America Series.

Andretti revealed in April 2017 that he had stage four colon cancer. His cancer battle, which was originally misdiagnosed as Stage III-A, was widely distributed, with him launching #CheckIt4Andretti, which then promoted colonoscopy. Andretti was declared cancer-free in late 2017, after months of chemotherapy. However, he had a relapse of the disease in May 2018, which spread even more. For the remainder of the year, he underwent chemotherapy that came in January 2019. In late March 2019, the cancer relapsed again. At the age of 56, Andretti died of colon cancer on January 30, 2020.

#CheckIt4Andretti's founder founded a foundation to provide colonoscopies to those without insurance. During Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Andretti Motorsports and Jarrett announced a collaboration with Unite Health Share Ministries for the "Steer Clear of Cancer" campaign in 2021 to raise funds for the charity.

Kyle Larson of NASCAR will compete in 2024 at Indy 500

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 12, 2023
Kyle Larson, the once-disgraced NASCAR racer who returned to the sport to win a points title in 2021, will race the Indianapolis 500 next year with McLaren Racing in a joint effort with his new team owner Rick Hendrick. Larson's aspiration is finally a possibility thanks to McLaren and Hendrick's surprise announcement on Thursday. On Memorial Day weekend, he will also be the fifth driver to run 'The Double' in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the same day. The other NASCAR drivers to compete in both categories are John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch. Larson, who was chastised for using the word n-word on a live broadcast, has long said he wants to compete in the Indy 500. However, he did not have a viable Chevrolet opportunity for the 2023 run of 'The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,' (which took place in May).
