High up above Montalegre, a warm winter light is cascading softly over the hills; a blistering orange which tantalises and teases in equal measure. For all its powerful intensity, however, there's a distinct chill in the air. It's 7am, but already, the sound of engines whirrs in the distance, and materials clanks against metal as we make our way up to the paddock. It's day two of the World Rallycross Championship in Portugal, 1,000m above sea-level, and tensions are high as the best of the best go head to head for the stage title.
